Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Moderately yeasty and a good sense of musty hay in the nose with some light cereal malt and noticeable hops. Hazy, golden pour with thick, white persistent foam. Sharp first taste, slightly metallic. The hops give it a citrusy note along with a good tart, yeast flavor. Surprising malt backbone. Medium body with active fizz and slightly soapy texture. Strong, dry finish with long alcohol notes.

12oz (355ml) bottle picked up in Albert Heijn and consumed at home in Amsterdam on 05-Aug-2016. Hazy pale amber colour with a thick white head. Aroma of lemongrass, yeast, spices and sweet biscuit malt. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly bitter, with a fruity taste of lemongrass, citrus, caramel and coriander. Some spicyness - I can see the similarities to a Belgian tripel. Lovely lacing down the glass as you drink. Alcohol disguised quite well. Bitter, tasty and dry finish.

En god Ale. Tjockt fint skum som ligger kvar ganska länge.

Empfehlung!

Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale hits the style perfectly. Hazy orange pour with a fluffy white head. Moderate funky aroma but nothing outstanding. Taste is funky and fruity and very refreshing. Tank 7 is a good standard farmhouse perfect to enjoy with food or whatever.

Bottle from Beer52. Hazy deep gold, middling fizz, middling white head. Fruity aroma. Yeasty on first taste, then sherbet, white pepper, minerals, a little plasticy soap note and strawberry bubblegum. Strawberry yoghurt too. Definite fake strawberry, Foam banana sweets, then more yeast and white pepper. Mild bitterness at first, but mainly sweet with a dryish finish. Grew on me, in fact rather enjoyed it by the end, but still felt it’s over-rated on here.
