4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is my third offering from the smokestack series, this one is so far my favorite. Refreshing, nice flavors of hay, wheat, apples, spices, yeast and some funk. A very nice semi-dry finish and no alcohol flavors to ruin anything. I was surprised by the pineapple in the aroma. That was a huge plus. I was looking for faults in this one, I couldnít find any. I am a fan of Wits and Tripels, This one falls in between. Recommended!

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a nice saison. Pours slightly yellow with a little head that laces nicely. Good aroma of grapefruit. Nice finish, but just a little too thick.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear light to medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, fruity tart, moderate yeasty, funky, spicy. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, hoppy, fruity yeast, citrus tart. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Aroma is bread, floral, earthy, with some farmhouse skunk. Pours hazy golden with a thin white head. Slightly pungent on the palate with some bitterness and dry finish. Good farmhouse, but a bit one dimensional.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A strong, very pale, hazy and hoppy farmhouse-style beer whose alcohol comes through in the flavor with a bit of heat, particularly on draft. On the one hand Iíve been happy to see such a distinctive beer find success... it seemed to be everywhere on draft in Missouri this summer. On the other hand, it is too strong to be refreshing, useful, or even particularly drinkable. Iíd love to see Boulevard take another stab at a saison meant for drinking rather than tasting.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle poured into a tulip.
A: Pours a golden color with fairly strong yeast haze. The head is a beautiful four finger white color with a frothy texture and fantastic retention. Lacing is extremely thick and prominent. The way the carbonation rises to the top into the head is an excellent detail that adds to its aesthetic appeal.
S: Crisp apple, pears, farmhouse funk, slight hay, lemon zest, coriander, grassy hops, and even a hint of vinousness. Complex in a restrained manner, yet very satisfying.
T: Much like the smell, the flavor is light, but with several layers of complexity, amazing considering the yeast esters donít play a huge role in the progression of flavors. Opening subtleties of apple, pear, light funk, and spices roll into a solid malt backbone. The zesty, grassy hops on the finish, in particular, are what really send this one over the top, perhaps making up for the lack of a significant yeast profile. Complex enough to make one look around for varying flavor subtleties, but drinkable enough to make one gulp a bottle down in 15 minutes whilst doing the former.
M: Letís call it medium bodied - itís nowhere near as light/watery as your typical shitty macro lager, but it doesnít have the heft of some saisons Iíve had. It finishes dry, but this dryness is provided more from the hops rather than astringent yeast. A light accumulating bitterness does an excellent job of giving off the "must have another sip" factor.
O: Wow, what a great beer. Admittedly, as a biased IPA fanatic, I like my saisons low on yeast but high on hops, and since this fits the criteria brilliantly, Iíll be hunting this one down in the near future. I, for one, welcome our new Missouri overlords to Maryland!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle, best by March 5, 2013. Served at around 40-45F.
Pours very hazy with wonderful swirls of sediment. Large three finger fluffy white head that leaves globs of sticky lacing and holds a great cap. Purty.
Fruity aroma with a lot of melon, pear, tropical fruits, a bit of banana and citrus, some bread & yeast. Very good strength.
Flavor is also very fruity, pear, pineapple, melon, orange, grapefruit, mango, itís like fruit juice, semi-sweet, some bread and yeast, moderate bitterness, minimal alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a bit sticky, good carbonation.
Mmmmm, this is good, really good. Very fruity and juicy. I normally donít gravitate towards Belgian Pales/Goldens/Saisons, but Tank 7 may change that for me. So glad to have them here in Georgia now. Lookiní forward to trying more from the Smokestack series.
