3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a hazy deep yellow with a billowing white head that settles down to just a thin layer. A bit of spotty lacing on the sides of my tulip. Nose brings some grassy, herbal notes as well as a bit of American hops. Slightly earthy and a bit of grain as well. The taste is fairly smooth with hops and the grassy character competing against one another just a bit. Mouthfeel is nice with a fairly dry finish. Drinks pretty well, but I’m a much bigger fan of the Saison - Brett.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2011 Tap. Lovely. Wonderful unfiltered wheat flavor. Plenty of fruit notes with hops. Much better than expected. Slight alcohol flavor. Very full palate.
Bottle. Same flavors, but the beer overall is less aromatic, and the fruit notes that I originally really liked didn’t seem to exist. This beer is not smoothed over by some sweet talking caramel malt. It’s bold, and very American, lose. It keeps its character together. Great beer.

750ml bottle pours an orangish yellow, with a nice white head. Has a citrus flavor with good hops an nice spice. Very good taste all the way through! Hides the alcohol very well. This is my first Boulevard brew and I like it a lot.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Fallen Rock. A huge head, yellow body. Pleasant aromas and a nice bitterness. Served a bit cold, on a freezing night. Belgian yeast, the beverage seems more to me as a Belgian IPA.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a light hazy straw with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, yeast and spices. Taste is slightly sweet with citrus, hops and spices. Light and refreshing. A bit dry at the finish. Nice saison.

The bottle was courtesy of Strykzone who continues to send great beers. This poured a hazy deep gold with a big foamy head and rich lacing rings. Nose is dead on for the style with ripe fruit, grapefruit, and some spices. Medium body and very clean and enjoyable mouthfeel. The flavor is very fruity and spicy as well and the finish has some light bitterness. Very nice beer and one of my favorite styles which might be affecting my high rating. I liked this a lot..

Sampled at the Black Hills Beer Fest. I would go out of my way to have this one again but I wouldn’t pour it down the drain either. It was a middle of the road drinking experience for me. This has nothing on Boulevards Double Wide IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2011 The saison yeast was there showcasing some citrus. Definitely get the amarillo hops through and through. Not my favorite saison but a good one nontheless. Crisp carbonation. Kinda dry finish. Really refreshing beer and a fun one to drink. Tasty. I’d buy this on a regular basis.
