COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Very spicy smell - lemony and yeasty as well. HUUUGE head that dissipates slowly and leaves a ton of lacing. Golden at the bottom. Medium-bodied - flavor doesn’t hit quickly, but when it does, there is big hit of bitterness/pepperiness and malt, along with sharp citrus. Hoppier than I was expecting (grapefruit Amarillo hops). 8% ABV is noticeable. Super dry on the finish!

750 ml corked and caged bottle, thanks Brenn79. Best by 11-2011. Aroma is floral, peppery, banana, dust, citrus. Pours slightly hazy golden with quite a bit of sediment floating around under a large pillowy off-white head; leaves decorative lacework. Taste is lightly sweet, faintly tart, a bit spicy, a tinge meaty and finishes with a slightly bitter hop flavor. Nice yeasty flavor. Carbonation is average and the body is thin. This seems like a really basic, yet tasty saison. It’s not spectacular, but it gets the job done. I wonder if it’d been better had I drank it before the Best By date. Doh!

Small bottle. Big head on hazy gold with some sediment. First fast of the rising foam is stupendous. One of the best US Saisons. Delicate vanilla, chamomile and spice. One of the smoothest commercially repRoductive Saiaons I have tasted.

750 shared with 3 guys at a St. Patty’s day party in Newton MA. This was a great farmhouse ale from a brewery that I had never heard of. I am very thankful for these guys to be kind enough to pour me a cup of this unique beer. There were all the bread dough, spice, and slight hops flavors of a farmhouse ale. The body was heavier that others that I have tried. This was like a slightly maltier Hennepin. The funk was very prevalent as it warmed up a bit. The aroma was of musty basement and that great Belgian-only funk. I can’t wait to try some more from this brewery.

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy pale straw gold with a large white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt, orange, lemon, and mild spice. The flavor is similar with the spicy yeast being a bit more prevalent than in the nose. Effervescent and crisp on the palate. Very enjoyable Saison.

12 oz. bottle; nice to revisit with the smaller format release; clear vibrant gold with huge eggy white head fading slowly; dry malt and pineapple on the nose; white sugar, straw, oranges and lemons; crisp, clean lemony malt with faint spice; silky smooth with somewhat sweet note at the end; dry honey, pale malt and crisp fruity mix; yum; dangerously drinkable; certainly not complex, but so refreshing, smooth and in balance; a terrific saison

Pours straw yellow with about a finger of quickly dissipating head, very murky because of the yeast. Smell is very refreshing, citrusy, bit of pineapple. Taste is a bit sour, lemon zest, citrus peels, horsey/barnyard taste towards the back. Light bodied and drinkable. Interesting beer, or maybe the style.

Starts off with a light dry malt that are paired with spicy peppery notes. Mid-stream builds with floral notes then ends with grapefruity hops. Finishes grainy, dry, with a tad bit of funk. Fantastic!

12oz bottle from Dresden. Hazy pale yellow with a generous slightly off white head that settles to a 1/4 finger layer of foam. Some yeast, light spice, peach, very mild funk with some soapy characteristics, alcohol presence, some citrus and bitter hops. Moderate carbonation and body, slightly bitter, becomes dry, with more citrus and hops, lemon comes through for sure, quite bitter at the end.
