Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

750ml bottle - A really excellent beer and enjoyable enough to watch my Raiders beat-up on the Chargers. Aroma has a nice balance between hops and malts, lots of funky/spicy notes to keep my nose interested in smelling it. Flavor is malty, sweet, tart, citrusy with a surprisingly long finish. Really nice buy.

Damn good beer, tho it’s pushing the envelope a bit. Bottle opened with a big pop at a good temperature and poured with a huge, foamy, frothy, fluffy, cream-colored head that lasts a very long time and some lace. Color is very slightly hazy yellow amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is dominated by lovely fresh hop, citrus, a bit of resin. Flavor’s much like nose with again hop in front backed with some malt sweet and some bitter. Traditional saison characteristics have been supplanted by the hop domination. Body/carbonation are excellent. Finish is like flavor, hop strength carries thru for a very long time and only a little alcohol warmth. Great drinking beer. Wish we could get it locally.

750ml cork and wire bottle from Vinmonopolet bestillingsutvalget. Solid, rocky white head that stayed well on top of an unclear, pale apricot coloured body. Firm lacing. Fresh smell of fruits and dusty hops. Sappy flavours of citrus joined by mild sweetness leading to a malt-fruity finish tingled with alcohol. Well balanced. Likable (shared at a rating session In Tromsø 13.11.2013).

Medelfyllig kropp.

Bottle bought at the Great British Beer Festival 2013 - poured into a Gouden Carolus glass. Opaque golden yellow with plentiful bubbly head. Grapefruit hops, perfumed, yeasty aroma. Dry, well rounded, tasty. Hint of straw, light fruitcake, hoppy. Well worth a glass.

One of my favorites. Golden color, but a little cloudy as a Farmhouse ale should be. Great flavor and balance of tartness and fresh finish. Good for all seasons.
