3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2012 Tap at ACBF. Nice to try the non-treated version of their Saison Brett. Cloudy dark gold pour with a good sized fluffy head. Aroma and flavor are marked with sweet citrus fruit and spicy yeast components. Straight forward but a solid saison. Rerate not 30 beers deep at a festival; 750 mL shared with oteyj. Such a damn good saison. has touches of US influence with lemon and grapefruit hops, but such beautiful smooth bready character. So good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured light golden 2 finger head.Great fruit hop aroma off the bat.Settles into a nice aroma ,not as intense later.Pillowy head and creamy.I had some maddining carbonation action, from the yeast, particles floating around giving massive tiny bubbles still going good after 10 min.Heavy side of light bodied.some moderate complex fruit taste light hop citrus dry finish.Picking up tangerine like flavors that sticks around.Im finding this more refreshing than pale ales for a summer beer.Dont detect the 8% at all or any alcohol.Leaves a really nice taste in your mouth.Something lacking in the general taste like its missing a middle taste-still very good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml Bottle. Fresh, fluffy peachy aroma, lots of grain and bread. Flavors are solid. It’s got a delightful, zesty pils malt cracker snap and some lightly piney hops. Fresh quaffable and complex. The alcohols perk up in the finish and I don’t really understand the need for that much booze in a beer this dry and light, but it certainly does not detract. It does have some sticky, plastic-like yeast phenols in a finish that curb the drinkability. Otherwise, solid stuff and perfect for this first real, real summer evening.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy yellow color with a decent amount of white head. Nose of hay, citrus, spice, and grass - flavor is slightly sweet and funky with some citrus and peppery spice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear straw yellow with a slight greenish tint. Big fluffy head. Aroma of fresh grassy hops, and a beautiful lawn on a summers day. Taste starts a little spicy, melds into a spicy hop flavor that doesn’t hold much bitterness. Slight toffee malt tones playing off the citrus rind make this very tasting and refreshing.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy golden yellow with a huge, sustaining, frothy white head. Tons of lacing. The aroma is a nice mix of light grains, doughy yeast, lemongrass, hops, and various spices. The flavor is a little sweet at first, but turns bitter and spicy, with citrus and a very dry, musty aftertaste that lasts forever. Medium body with slightly prickly carbonation. Alcohol doesn’t come through as much as you would expect. Great saison.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma consisting of citrus, spice, bubblegum, hay and bread. The taste is sweet and yeasty with a mild, but nice, hop presence and some light alcohol. Medium body with lively carbonation. Excellent saison, though at this abv, it’s hard to call it a refresher.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 Pours a sizable white, fluffy head. Hazy gold with many light flakes floating about. Aroma of grass, light citrus notes, and spice. Yeast evident, as is carbonation, with lacing remaining strong to the finish. Well-balanced, flavorful and tart on the tongue. Finishes dry and bitter - very nice. Smokestack Series never disappoints!
