COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment thatís just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard itís fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Pours a hazy golden color with a massive pillowy head that persists. Canít possibly look any better. Notes of honey, clover, corn, citrus, wheat, earth, and spices. Creamy semi sweet mouthfeel and decent finish length. More of an American interpretation of the style but it works for me.

750 ml bottle from Soonah. Thanks John. Pours a cloudy dark yellow color with a big white head that has fair retention and great sticky lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength with pears, straw, spicy yeast and a touch of grapefruit. The flavor is similar to the nose. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. The finish is long and dry. Overall: A very tasty saison.

On tap. Poured pale copper with a fizzy white head. The aroma was lots of spice with a bit of yeast and some citrus hops. The flavor was peppery with yeast and light citrus. Mouthfeel was thin and dry with maybe a bit too much carbonation.

750 ml bottle courtesy of Soonah. Pours straw colored gold with a 1" creamy white head. Aroma is light spice, citrus and some barnyard funk. Light to medium body with a dry crispness. Good amount of fizzy carbonation. Flavor is a nice mix of citrus hop, light spice and faint malt. A little Belgian yeast gives it some earthy funk.

courtesy of mreusch, thanks! nice sweet, earthy, refreshing saison! this would be perfect for a sweltering day in the midwest! very citrusy, and very sweet, especially compared to their saison w/brett. like a cooling, alcoholic candy elixer, who needs sparks when you can have this? it has all the same qualities and a lot more quality!

Bottled sample from Happy Harrys. Was excited to share this with Piscator. Probably my favourite Saison to date. Would like to try more. Nice spicy taste. Nicely carbonated.

BB 02-12. The pour is an effervescent, straw color with a full, white, fluffy head which settles quickly to a small, fluffy layer and leaves a few lace rings. The nose is interesting with mint and eucalyptus noted right away, floral, light white grapefruit, some lemony esters, and very subtle grain notes. The flavor is similar with more sweet biscuity grain notes, light white grapefruit still, lemony esters, minty/eucalyptus notes, and just a bit of spice. The bitterness is there but only moderately light and not as pronounced as in most saisons. The palate is light to moderate, lightly dry, soft to lively, and a bit watery. The finish is a bit dry with grapefruit, eucalyptus, and faint sweet grains. Not what I would expect from a saison with a less than lively carbonation and very subtle hop presence. Still a likable beer from a great brewery, just not typical of the style or the brewery.

Bottle courtesy of milljam. So Iím told this beer is replacing the regular Saison and is the base beer for Saison-Brett. Letís see how it goes! Pours a golden color with a real nice thick fluffy head. Nice retention and scattered lacing. The aroma consists of grapefruit hops, lemon, flowers, yeast, mild spices. The flavors are crisp and quite hoppy and dry. Yeast, lemon, cloves, maybe even some doughy malt mix in but this Saison clearly is American inspired with the strong hop profile. The hops add a nice dimension to the aroma but seem to overpower some of the lighter flavors I tend to enjoy with Saisons. The uptick in abv from the regular Saison isnít as much of an issue as I thought it might be as this is still pretty easy drinking. Still, while Tank 7 is a very good beer, it doesnít quite match the clean, elegant and refreshing qualities I enjoyed from the Saison. Havenít had a bad beer yet from Boulevard.

Bottled sample via and shared with mnurda. Gold in colour with strong carbonation. Interesting aromatics with the initial grassy notes giving way to pink grapefruit, spruce gum, pilsner malt, coriander, and a bit of alcohol heat. Flavors are a bit of an interesting combo to, with the strong pink grapefuit elements linking up with some Belgian style spicing and yeast characteristics (coriander, black pepper, etc.) and wheat. Medium bodied, and not quite as dry as your typical Belgian saison. Iím loving the boldness of all of the flavors, especially the hops. The alcohol heat and slightly sticky malts are drawbacks, but itís still a quality beer.
