Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

355ml bottle pours a light golden orange color with a generous white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild lemon with other light fruits with some yeast. Taste is lemony sourness with some malty and fruity sweetness and a dry yeasty finish. Light to medium body with some abundant carbonation leaving a pleasant tickle on the tongue. Alcohol is well hidden. A nicely done saison that is highly recommended.

12oz bottle. Pour was a yellowish straw color with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is citrus and fruity with the Belgian yeast note. Mouth is all citrus with a mild-to-moderate bite up front. The citrus drives through, and picks up a somewhat dry finish. Good balance and quite refreshing.

This is an interesting beer. Cloud bright orange. 3 finger pillowy head. Citrus and bread on the nose. Wheaty as well. Taste is sort of this chewy, bready wheat bomb. Nice citrus finish. Start is pretty nice as well. Medium body.

Shared corked 0.75l bottle @ Boulevard tasting. This one pours a light blurry to cloudy orange-yellow thing with a big and somewhat lasting just off-white top. Yeah, it smells quite nice. I get a really subtle and elegant fruity sweetness, saison yeast, banana sweetness and some soft hints of green pine cones. Nice stuff. It’s average+ on the carbonation and it has a oily mouthfeel. Nice flavors also. More saison yeast in the taste. Light subtle dried Belgian orange zest, grapefruit - something that goes again in many of these Boulevard brews. Some clear unmasked alcohol hints in the finish. 01.10.2012

Straw yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is light, some hay and mild spice. Flavor is very clean and effervescent with some nice light spices in the finish. Finishes dry. Very nice saison.

Bottle at Boulvard introduction tasting, Bergen. The colour is dark golden straw-yellow with a fairly frothy off-white medium head, but that disappears somewhat quickly. The aroma is lovely and fruity, and filled with hay, spices, banana, orange and some basement. The flavour is both sweet and fruity with yeast, marzipan and hay with a dry finish. Mouth feel is slightly crispy and smooth with a light to medium bitterness. A great beer that really recalls the best saisons I know from the Belgian countryside, has a nice balance.

First saison and highly impressed. This is a "go to" beer. Light and refreshing, hoppy, citrusy, nice sour notes, great color. Some spice notes of clove(?). Dry like a wine on the finish with no aftertaste - very clean. Maybe some fruitiness - almost an apple or maybe white wine grape, nice green notes (like good olive oil) in the nose, not so much in the taste but enough to perk up the taste buds. Really enjoyable to drink even with 8%.

Wet Straw color with a very fluffy head. Flavor is a subtle yet nicely balanced mixture of cloves, bananas, cracked peppers, lemon zest and malts. Very earthy/grassy tasting as well. Very crisp and refreshing when served cold. Very drinkable and balanced Saison ale!
