Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Courtesy of HOPSHUNTER. Pours gold with full frothy off white head. The aroma has a touch of acidic sharpness followed by herbally spiciness, some malts, yeast and then brown sugar. The taste has a moderate tart wild yeast note followed by yeasty spices, a pulse of sweet malt and sweetened cranberry juice sliding toward a malty to grainy finish. The finish is soft and pleasing.

750ml bottle, batch #7101, courtesy of foppa28. thanks, mat! pours a hazy, bright yellow with a thick, fluffy, white head and light lacing. aroma is great, interestingly sweet for a saison, with sweet florals, orange juice, and pear notes backed by hints of clove, banana esters, and light berry with a bit of grass. flavor is very nice as well with dry, grassy hops, cloves, sweet banana esters, and light honey with dry malts and lemon zest on the finish. palate is medium bodied, crisp, and sweet yet still refreshing with medium carbonation. overall, a very tasty saison.

Bottle: Golden pour with small strands of tiny bubbles, topped with a large and fluffy off-white head. Soft aroma of dusty florals with just a little citrus. At first sip the grapefruit is really pronounced, but it mellows with an earthy and floral finish. Creamy in the body with just a bit of spices and yeast in the end. From a fairly tame start, it really evolves as the bottle warms. Very nice.

Bottle shared with frostyone. Pours a golden yellow and a little hazy. Nose is spicy yeast, some cloves, citrus notes, and some banana esters. Taste is full of Belgian spice and clove with some phenolic notes. Some citrus hop flavor. Finishes a little bitter and dry. Warms the belly afterward. Good. seems like a cross between a tripel, and a hefewwisen.

Had on draft. Poured slightly cloudy straw color. Large white rocky head. As beer warmed, very citrous spicy notes. Some banana and apple. Flavor similar to aroma as citrous spicy notes dominated with little malt and hop character. Medium light body, highly carbonated. Excellent overall beer!

Draft at Dash-In, Fort Wayne, IN. Small white head that mostly diminished, good amount of lacing, hazy body, and a yellow hue. The aroma was yeasty, sweet, flowers, grapefruit, hoppy, fruity, and a hint of spiciness. The flavor was floral hops, fruity, sweet, yeasty, citrus, and peppery. The mouthfeel was tingly and this is a medium bodied Saison. A Saison that is worth trying IMO.

Bottle shared by someone at Sean’s, thanks! Poured a hazy gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had lots of earthy yeast notes with floral and citrus notes accompanying. Flavor was similar with floral and citrus combining nicely with a bit of grapefruit hops and the earthy yeast slightly less present.

750 mL bottle served in a tulip- poured a moderately turbid and murky orange/yellow color, one finger white head quickly bubbled away from the medium carbonation, several frog eyes upon the liquid surface though. Aroma of yeast, spices, and earth. Hits the mouth with an even medium body, malt is very light, ALOT of spices come in the middle (pepper, coriander, and tumeric come to mind), finish is clinging at first, then a drying sweetness comes into play. They should have stayed with the one that they retired.
