Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a pure white longstanding head that leaves lacing. The nose out of the bottle is hops with slight citrus. Light/medium body with a slight maltiness. Hop bitterness is more than evident. Palate is characterized by a crispy driness followed by a lingering bitter aftertaste. Is there a way to make such a great beer with less alcohol. I know, why ask? Enjoy!

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2014 [4140-20111119] 750mL bottle. Floral fresh celery stalk aroma has a note of sweet cocoa. Murky, light yellow orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head and some lacing. Light floral celery notes continue in the flavour. Medium body is a little sour. Interesting. (9-/3~/7/3/14) 3.6

Bottle/12oz - Pours a lemon yellow in color with a medium foamy white head that hung on to produce some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon citrus and yeasty... some herbs too. Flavor is very lemony/citrus... again with the herbal notes. Finish is mildly bitter with lingering citrus... Really good!!

Cloudy straw color with a fluffy head that sticks around. Nose is very inviting, black pepper, sweet grains, delicate, smells like the best of ’em. Terrific, mild bitterness, a bit of spice, those same black pepper and sweet grain elements. Thin, appropriate for the style, entirely drinkable - dangerously so. This fits right in with all the other awesome offerings of the Smokestack Series.

a few pints at the local bar near work. Was surprised to see this on tap since it seems like mostly a bud light kind of place. Cloudy yellow color with very bright white half inch head. The aroma is orange blossom with some fresh hay. The taste turns that citrus element a bit more lemon and the malt is stronger as well. lightly sweet and refreshing as a saison ought to be. easy drinking for an 8%abv, knocked me for a loop after the second pint. loving much of what i am getting from boulevard these days

Really fresh, bright aroma, sugared, golden raisins.. full-bodied, nice mouthfeel, well-balance on the palate, little bit of alcohol in the finish but doesn’t overpower; well done.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of scray24, poured into a Unibroue tulip. Grapefruit color with a towering white head. Fresh citrusy aroma with lemons and candied oranges, vanilla sheet cake, light menthol. Flavor tends more toward bready malts, slightly sweet dough, oranges, cough drop herbs, honey. On the sweet side midpalate, but a dry straw/barnyard finish with a subtle astringency dries it out and gives it a nice saison feel. Easy to see why innoculating this with brett is such a good idea.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2012 Les agrumes soutiennent son corps hyper-effervescent. La finale est poivré, épicé et très sèche. Belle complexité dans sa simplicité.
