COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours a golden color, with a huge fluffy white head, it takes a few minutes for it to melt away into lacing all around the glass. The nose is HUGE, lemons, herbs, floral, grassy, citrus...and soap! Maybe that’s the lemons. Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation is medium. This is my first saison, not my favority style. From all the ratings, it looks that Tank 7 is appreciated and well done. I can’t say that I’d drink another one.

Zangy & tangy!! This is definitely a lemon-lover’s brew!! Amazingly refreshing with an excellent ‘chewy’ texture. One of the best of this beer style that I have yet to savor! Smells like lemon meringue pie! Wicked carbonation in full effect. Tastes like ‘dessert-in-a-bottle’! Definitely one to put on your ‘to-try’ list if you haven’t had the pleasure of tasting this brew!

Big white, fluffy head atop a clear, straw yellow color with some suspended sediment. Nice, funky farmhouse tartness in the nose, some lemon zest and hay. Clean and refreshing, some green apple peels, but not an off-flavor. Small alcohol burn, but the beer is at proper drinking temperature, about 60 degrees F.

A cloudy, golden color with a pillowy off-white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is yeasty with a lot of citrus, mainly orange peel. The flavor has a lot of spices along with the citrus and a bit of the yeast and malt. A very nice, crisp ale.

Batch 711084. Bottle pours cloudy light straw color into a tulip with a thick and foamy white head. Beautiful beer to behold. Aromas funk, bread, and some grassy notes. Tastes is pure Belgian saison, with yeasty bread notes, barnyard, earthy, and some hay...all that back up with some bitter grassy hops and some herbal notes. The body is medium with active carbonation. Finish is long and dry and the hops notes are what remains in the finish. Overall, an excellent saison, that rivals all the big names in Belgium. Great with food, or great by itself, a truly delicious beer.

Bomber, pours clear straw w/ pillowy white head, excellent aroma of grainy malt, barnyard, lemon oil, and basil, clean and malty throughout w/ some pithy bitterness on finish, very nice

Finally available in Mass. Got a 12 oz single. A "grassy" colored yellow brew. Good carbonation. Very cloudy with lots of specs floating around. Citrus and alcohol nose. Flavor is smooth and this is very drinkable. Some lightly sweet and complex fruit notes. Body is somewhat lacking to make this a top-tier saison though. Could use a bit more bite.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2011 A hazed blonde saison with a thin white head. In aroma, smooth sweet malt, powdery, herbal, curacao notes. In mouth, a nice smooth saison with spiced oily malt, white pepper, alcohol, very nice. On tap at Belgian Beer Fest, Sept 10 2011.

(750ml bottle courtesy of Phaleslu! Thanks Peter.). Pours a hazy golden color with massive chunky white head that leaves nice lacing. Active carbonation. Aroma has pepper, spice, lemon, and yeast. Taste is sweet with spices and light hops. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lightly bitter finish. Nice beer that hides the alcohol well.
