Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours hazy light orange. Aroma is grapefruit and hops. Taste is clean grassy hops up front with funky sweet Belgian yeast on the back. A little thin, but not out of character for this style and well balanced with the ABV. A great choice if you gotta have hops but don’t want the heavier malt of an IPA. This beer introduced me to Boulevard a year or two ago and I’ve been steadily impressed by them. For a Kansas City brewery to get into the hyper-competitve Seattle beer market is no small accomplishment.

Scheveningen 05-10-2015 Wat een gaaf bier! Amarillo hops waar ik echt fan van ben. Enorm gaaf etiket. Mooie gouden kleur en lekkere frisse aroma (perzik). Perfecte volle smaak alleen qua bitterheid net iets te flauw.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Hazy golden coloured with a large white head. It has a spicy citrus and vanilla flavour with herbal and slight tart notes followed by a creamy floral, dry, warming finish. An excellent Tripel style beer!

Citric aroma. Watery texture. Some powdery notes of malt. Some sweet. Head disappears quickly. Unfortunate strong metallic overtones.

Couldn’t agree more with Salmaneser and previous raters. Picked up a four pack at local Jumbo supermarket. This new development of supermarkets carrying foreign and unknown brands of beer is really great. I brought down the temperature in the old fashoined put-it-in-the-freezer way and I am enjoying this at the moment. I immediatly recognized the American love of citrus in beers although it’s not distubing. For the rest, read Salmanesers previous review.
