COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours hazy light orange. Aroma is grapefruit and hops. Taste is clean grassy hops up front with funky sweet Belgian yeast on the back. A little thin, but not out of character for this style and well balanced with the ABV. A great choice if you gotta have hops but don’t want the heavier malt of an IPA. This beer introduced me to Boulevard a year or two ago and I’ve been steadily impressed by them. For a Kansas City brewery to get into the hyper-competitve Seattle beer market is no small accomplishment.

Bottle@home, from Alko Kaleva, Tampere, Finland. Medium/strong aroma with yeasty honey and parfymic notes. Light copper color with medium frothy natural white head and hazy liquid. Medium/strong, balanced, bold taste with sweet, parfymic honey and fruits rounded by yeasty notes. A hint of wheaty malts. Medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with sweet malts. Medium body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, soft and sweet, high quality taste, a bit too sweet for a saison and also dampens the malty flavors.

Appearance: hazy honey amber. Huge tan foam. Foaming out of the glass huge. Nose: Sweet light malt with floral, herbal and grass notes. Taste: sweetness somewhere between candy and honey, lighter hops with herbal and grass being foremost. Body: medium to lighter. Lightly carbonated. Parting thoughts: most striking element of this beer is the low carbonation. Almost flat. Almost as if the huge foam on the initial pour used up all the carbonation.

Complexe smaak van zoet, bitter, zuur en zelfs een vleugje umami in de nasmaak, fris tintelend van witte wijn, ananas, pruim en kruidig. Aroma is gelijk doch minder heftig. Licht troebel.

Pours cloudy gold with a sticky white head. Very nice cling. Aromas of pine, Belgian yeast, stone fruits. Flavors of sweet malt--stone fruits, citrus and toffee. Belgian yeast--banana and clove. Mild but spicy hops. Cut grass and bready notes. Noticeable alcohol. Sweet and rich, spicy and crisp. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. This is very nice.

*Great and nice spicy fresh beer. Intense and fresh. Nice Farmhouse-yeast with lots of fruits. A bit smooth with sweetish hints, the ABV is there, but sessionable and fresh. Great stuff.

Moderately yeasty and a good sense of musty hay in the nose with some light cereal malt and noticeable hops. Hazy, golden pour with thick, white persistent foam. Sharp first taste, slightly metallic. The hops give it a citrusy note along with a good tart, yeast flavor. Surprising malt backbone. Medium body with active fizz and slightly soapy texture. Strong, dry finish with long alcohol notes.

12oz (355ml) bottle picked up in Albert Heijn and consumed at home in Amsterdam on 05-Aug-2016. Hazy pale amber colour with a thick white head. Aroma of lemongrass, yeast, spices and sweet biscuit malt. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly bitter, with a fruity taste of lemongrass, citrus, caramel and coriander. Some spicyness - I can see the similarities to a Belgian tripel. Lovely lacing down the glass as you drink. Alcohol disguised quite well. Bitter, tasty and dry finish.
