COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Bottle shared at RSRIZZO’s winter gathering. Pours light hazy yellow-gold with a moderate, frothy white head, great retention and lacing. Aroma is moderate grain and cookie malt with heavy floral hops, spices (ginger, coriander) with fruit (peaches, pears), light dust and earthy notes. Flavor is funky yeast, spices, floral hops, earthy, and fruity esters. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, and a dry finish.

Bottle. Batch 79338 best before 12/10. Pours with a murky yellow body and a very large fluffy white head. Aroma of nice fruity hops (citra?). Similar profile to Harvest Dance. Grapefruit, straw, wheat, peppery, delicate bread. Very nice. Taste is peppery, grapefruit, mango, very sweet tropical fruit, bread, pepper. Delicate. Light plastic notes. Delicious! Not a saison brett, but its pretty tasty. Fizzy and dry. Pretty big.

On tap at the Fallen Rock. A huge head, yellow body. Pleasant aromas and a nice bitterness. Served a bit cold, on a freezing night. Belgian yeast, the beverage seems more to me as a Belgian IPA.

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours a clear, yellow-orange with a modest, white head. Aroma holds citrus hops, dry yeast and caramel malts. Fairly sweet flavor, fruity with orange, grapefruit and peach, and some lightly bready malts. Medium in body with fine to average carbonation. Gets nicely bitter on the finish, fairly dry, some lemon, wheat, light sugars and yeast. Great beer.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2009 Draft, Falling Rock. Unfiltered, cloudy soft yellow, white head, fine-bubbled, attractive structure. First impressions of the nose: key lime pie, pillowy yeast, floral sugars. Delicately textured, soft but full on the palate with a slight turns towards syrupy texture in the finish. Intricate, fresh, delicious. Lovely overall.

A: The pour is a cloudy golden color with a large white head that settles down to a more manageable layer. S: Just about as good as it gets for a Saison aroma. Tons of yeast, spice, and fruit. A mild bread sweetness with some light straw notes. Tons of apples, lemon zest, pears, and maybe even a little candied citrus peel. S: A nice lemon zest, orange peel, and straw player to open it up. A touch of sweet melon, some bready malt sweetness, and just a light bitterness. There is a fair bit of yeast flavor and only a mild spice note. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. O: one of the best Saisons I’ve had. Tons to like about this beer.

750 cc from State Line. Pours turbid canary with 3-finger clingy white head that laces well. Nose is dry, spicy, with floral hops, yeasty malt, and fruit. Tastes dry, very floral up front, with mid-palate hops, fruit, and yeasty malt. Very complex and easy to drink, this one is stellar.

750mL bottle. Poured slightly cloudy pale golden with a tight-bubbled whitish head. The aroma picked up floral, grapefruit, and catty hoppage over a soft bready base.. some white peppery spices as well.. warm undertones, but no overt alcohol.. balance was quite nice. The flavor found sweet grapefruit meat and bready notes at the core.. floral notes, a touch of oak, and peppery alcohol around and through the finish.. tasty, but a bit too heavy for a saison. Medium-bodied with dense, rolling carbonation across the palate.. spicy and very warming in the belly area.. I’d gladly drink another, but stay away if you’re looking for "refreshing".

Served on draft at Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes. Pours a clear golden color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of herbal and spicy notes, stone fruits and pear. The taste is bread, spicy hops, stone fruits and caramel. Medium bodied. Quite nice.
