Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a thin foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, pepper, sugars, and honey. Grapefruit and lemon zest hit first followed by a nice sweet honey and sugary backbone. Some hidden spices. Good complexity. Nice carbonation. Medium bodied. A great session beer. Light and refreshing. Dry and sweet, spicy finish.

Beer pours pale hazy yellow with a tall foamy head that leaves thick necklaces of lacing. Citrus and yeast aroma. Perhaps a little candidate sugar in there as well. Wonderful flavor. Subtle sweetness balanced by lemony bitterness. Spiciness feels yeast driven rather than through additions. Tropical flavors emerge as the beer warms. The bready malts also emerge at the warmer temps. Lesson: don’t drink this beer too cold! Despite the tall head, the beer does not feel overly carbonated. Body is light and the finish is long and bitter. A very nice Belgian style beer.

Härligt mjuk och trevlig att dricka till det grillade. Ganska fruktig och nästan lite syrlig.

Pours a hazy golden color with a thick white head and beautiful lacing. Yeast, clove, wheat, fruit, citrus and spice aroma. Yeast, clove, apple, pear, grapefruit, orange and wheat flavors. Medium light body and lively carbonation. Mildly dry grapefruit, orange and spice finish. Very good.

Tap, pours yellow. Peppers and spices. Very nice beer for a summers afternoon. It lingers, perhaps too long but money well spent.

In Chicago. Pours bright yellow with foamy head that leaves a lot of lacing. Nose of pepper and spice. Taste is classic farmhouse ale - peppery, lots of carbonation. Good example of style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355 ml bottle 8.5% abv. Golden colour with large head. Taste with lots of citrus peel. Fruity and very drinkable. Clear in family with their ipa version.

This is an excellent strong Belgian that’s a bit on the hoppy and spicy side. It is a slightly hazed golden orange w/ a very long lasting head of rocky, fine-bubbled foam. The nose on this is quite hoppy and could give some pretty decent IPAs a run for their money in that regard. It is a lavendar character mostly and some citrus. A lot of this comes from a spicy yeast as well from the hops and this yeast hops and I always enjoy when brewers can get these two elements to play together nicely as Boulevard has done here. This a strong beer and relatively juicy and full bodied but nice and dry so it drinks a little lighter than one might expect given the gravity, which is in part due to its carbonation. Once tasted, the focus shifts from the hops more to the yeast and a bit of fresh cracked malt. It finishes dry w/ a light lingering bitterness and spice across the tongue. This is definitely one of the better American influenced Belgians and I am really glad to see brewers in the US are starting to consistently do these well.

Not bad. I see what they did with this one. They upped the abv and went easy on a tame saison yeast strain to make it doable for everyone. My only gripe is in this case I like the funky, eartht, lick a rusty barn funkiness to belgo/french saisons. Taste and aroma are clean and nice, The palate is smooth and easy going. Not much funk but they make their point. Overall not too shabby, A really good offering for newcomers to the funky brew style scene
