Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

12 oz. bottle. Ar: A bit stuffy but some nice citrus notes come through up front. Lightly spicy banana as well. Ap: Pours a hazy straw-copper with a 2" frothy head atop my tulip. Nice lace. T: Fairly sweet up front with a spicy flavor. Finish is moderate citrus and quite nicely bittered with a touch of tartness. P: Comes off a bit syrupy to me, moderate carbonation and a bit of stickiness. O: Glad to find this one stashed away in the back of my fridge. Complex and delicious.

Bottle from Wegman’s. Pours cloudy with yeast suspension. Aroma of fruity Aldehydes and yeasty earth. First sip is similar with cereal grains and a sweet mild bozey finish.

Grapefruity, citrusy farmhouse with smooth, creamy mouthfeel and slight alcoholic bite on the tart finish. Refreshing and uplifting.

Draft at Good Dog. Slightly hazy golden straw pour with a thin white head that left a lot of lace. Bitter amber fruits. Bitter golden hops. Spicey honey marmalade. Quite pungent. Strong amber fruits. Drops to juicy, spicy and herbal. Worth a shot.

"I didn’t make this a pairing on purpose, but this has a ton more in common with the Deschutes Chainbreaker white IPA I just had than I’d have imagined. Lots of citrus and hops up front. Bright and peachy. This one had a tiny tiny bit of additional Belgian funk, but both are spicy. This one, at 8%, slightly more hefty, but having had these one after another, I can’t believe theyre not brewed by the same peeps."

Bottle. First pour was chrisp clear dark yellow. Second got a little yeastys in it making it a bit cloudier. Huge huge head thick lacing. Funk, fruit punch, bannanas, cheery, and malt. Flavor is solid. Sourdough, spicy, sweet, hay, malty, light peppery hops, little to no bitterness and many spices that I can?t peg reminds me of what vanilla licorice would taste like. Creamy mouth but has a surprisingly medium mouth feel. Fantastic belgian.

Appearance is clear golden with a huge white frothy foam cap. Aroma is spicy and peppery yeast, with earthy and herbal hop character. Taste is sweet bready, biscuity malt with some pepper notes and crisp hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium with a high carbonation. Finished very dry with a stickiness on the tongue and a lingering bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy golden with lots of sediment, and dat dere huge rocky head. Nose is Belgian yeast, fruit esters, banana, a bit of floral hops, herbal. Taste is fruity, yeast is somewhat muted for a saison, a herbal hop presence, peppercorn, a bit funky on the finish. I can taste/ feel a bit of the high ABV, was hoping for more carb pretty low on the saison scale. It's good, hennepin is better. Missing some yeast and barnyard character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
