Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Pours cloudy gold with long lasting foamy white head. The description is pretty accurate - strong tropical fruits on the nose, citrus, banana, coriander, bread, pepper. Body is crisp and dry. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet. Excellent saison. Much better than I expected.

Blonde with an average head. Lemon, grass, light banana. Dry, sour, with a light bitter finish. Wheaty character. In between a pale saison and a wit. Somehow different and interesting.

355ml bottle from LCBO (thanks to blankboy for this one). thick-looking cloudy orange-yellow, solid lasting frothy white head. Aroma - mmm, lemon/lemongrass saison, not too sweet, not much alcohol - nice and fruity/yeasty. Taste follows, more bitterness, less fruit, a touch more alcohol than in the aroma - definitely citrus zest, and what sweetness there was in the aroma is much less in the taste - lovely stuff. Fresh, lively mouthfeel - really dances on the tongue - medium tingly slightly dry grassy/spicy finish - really clean and refreshing. Wonderful beer.

Bottled. 10cl sample. The aroma has citric tones, orange and lemon peel, funk, bit barnyard. Hazy, yellow coloured beer with a medium-big, white head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, has citric tones, funk, some flower, spicey tones. Medium bodied mouthfeel with quite some carbonation. Pretty nice stuff.

Duvel is actually the farmed version of this beer while Tank 7 is the pure wild untamed pepper and lemon variant. True story. Delish

Not sure if it was just my bottle or batch but got a huge foamy overflowing head after popping the cap. After cleaning up the mess, it still pours a fairly large foamy bubbly white head and has a slightly hazy golden appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of wheats, citrus, yeast. Flavours are mostly citrusy. Orange peel, zest, coriander and some pretty good yeasty notes. Full bodied mouthfeel. Astringent and tingling sensation on the palate. Some bitterness and sourness as well. Excessive carbonation. Pretty good stuff!

Lichtgeel bier. Ben niet zo’n liefhebber van saison, maar dit is goed te pruimen. Fris, moutig, citrus, cookie. Een smaakvolle saison, met een typisch moutige Belgische smaak.

Well this was a truly exceptional and unique brew, which successfully combined elements of both an IPA and a Belgian saison. On draft from a freshly tapped keg, this poured a hazy wheaty golden color, with an aroma of west coast hops and yeast. Taste is very complex and also well balanced, with an initial sweetness of Belgian yeast, followed by fruity hops, mostly grapefruit, and also with a subtle bready maltiness throughout. Relatively light on the palate, fresh and not musty as some other farmhouse style ales. Finishes clean, and the hefty ABV surprises you. Definitely a distinctive beer worth trying!

Bottle. Clear yellow gold, ample white head. Hay, light coriander spiciness, minimal citrus fruitiness. Light bitterness, strongish malt finish. Chewy, some light oiliness, medium body, alcohol is somewhat upfront. Longish finish. Quite good.
