"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersenís The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Darkish amber with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel and dried fruit. Taste of the same with a slight warming but otherwise not too much booze. Smooth on the palate. Not up there with the trappist quads but still a good brew.

Hazy reddish amber colour, huge dense yellow head; aroma of biscuit, floral honey, orange zest and herbal-medicinal notes; taste of roasted sugar, herbal liqueur notes, orange zest oil and some dried fruits; ok beer, but very far from being a perfect quadrupel

Pours copper with a serious head. A little tart but delicious quad ale. High ABV thatís very misleading with its very tasty content. Great beer for the price.

Nice, tasty, a bit boozy. Pretty smooth for high ABV. Nutty, caramel taste. Would try this one again.

0.355l bottle. Slightly hazy orange body, huge off-white head. Aroma of bread, caramel, orange zest and floral hops. Taste of bread, orange zest, dark sugar, toast and floral hops. Itís OK, but not that bold what I expect from a quad.

Bottles from total wine in fl. Everything you expect in a quad. Rich aroma. Sweet molasses flavor with a strong kick. Good stuff, esp for a quad made in Missouri

It pours amber with some orange tinge to it. It has a tan head with Belgian lace. It has aromas of cherries, plums, leather, earthly elements, alcohol, bread, and an overall sweetness to the initial taste. There are flavors of cherries, plums, earthly elements alcohol, bread, and fruity esters. There is a somewhat heavy feel to it with some tartness and a very high level of carbonation. Overall, this is a complex fruity and yeast laden beer with an initial sweetness and a slightly tart finish.
