12 oz bottle into red wine glass. Bottle gushed a little on opening, despite settling in the fridge for around an hour. Appearance: deep orange with a touch of red, yeast floaters, thin, cream head. Aroma: Belgian yeast spices - nutmeg cinnamon, slight boozy solvent and hops, mellow caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Flavour: sweet, a little hot, peaches and whisky, mulled spices. Finish slightly bitter and astringent. Hot and fiery like the aftertaste from a scotch. Mouthfeel: full of alcohol but thin in body. Highly carbed. Overall some big, beautiful aromas and flavours, but a little too much booze for my palate.

12 oz bottle purchased from Gilly’s in Rockville, MD. Hazy amber color with soft white head around the edges of the glass. Sweet, spicy, and boozy aroma. It tastes like figs and alcohol. It is very strong, so I wouldn’t start the evening with this beer. It is a nice nightcap.

Huge head. Strong Belgian yeast, big spices. Molassses, woody vanilla, plum brandy. Sweet not syrupy. Very long finish. Outstanding for an American quad.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy ruby red color with an off-white head. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma of banana, yeast & raisins. I’d say this is medium bodied. Flavor is sweet, mainly malt with a nice warming background. Finish is also sweet, but not lingering. Excellent entry!

Bottle. Pours dark amber with a large beige head. Nice aroma of overripe fruits, yeast, caramel, moderate spice and wood. Somewhat sweet but well balanced flavor of overripe fruits, caramel, light spice, light licorice, pleasant alcohol and wood. Smooth and warming finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. Or pours clear deep brown with a quickly diminishing yellow-white head. The nose is candy, caramel, raisin, prune, earth, wood, hot-cross buns and leather. The taste is earthy, wood, varnish, toasty sugar, raisin, prune, date, spice, candy, caramel, alcohol heat and light bitterness with a warming, earthy finish. Medium-full body and fine, prickly carbonation. Spice permeates through. A solid US quad for sure, but I would have preferred a bit more body and less heat.
