4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sweet malt and molasses with caramel and lesser fruit and spice. 750ml bottle means making a commitment when you open unless sharing with friends. Have to watch the pour as the head can foam over if not careful. Great value for a very drinkable quad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This brew pours a slightly cloudy copper color with a thick and frothy light tan head that fizzes away steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma if fruity with notes of malt and yeast. Medium body with lively carbonation and flavors of tart fruit, caramel malt and yeast. Hints of warming alcohol throughout. The finish is dark fruits and yeast with a malty and slightly metallic aftertaste. Overall this beer will never be mistaken for one of your top tier Trappists but it is pretty good in its own right.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
I am no fan of an overly hoppy beer, but this one seems like an excellent example of how badly things can go awry with out enough hops to balance out the molasses like sweetness and the over the top ABV.
This was not a fun beer for me to drink until... Then all of a sudden I didn’t care. The second half is definitely better than the first.
