COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

750 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was strong with raisins, dates, prunes, cola and a touch of alcohol. The taste was similar to the aroma with the sweet dark fruits dominating and a bit of alcohol showing. The mouthfeel was smooth but no creamy and the carbonation came across as harsh at times. The finish was medium in duration with lingering dark fruits. Overall: This one tasted a bit young and underdeveloped, I should sock a bottle away for about six months and re-rate.

Reddish brown colors with a nice pungent aroma. Flavors are of strong apple cider, dried fruits, roasted malt, yeast, and caramel. Bubbly and medium palate. Well balanced and tasty. Alcohol is lightly noticable but well integrated.

Bottle from Windy City. Deep amber in color. Looks well carbonated. Good sized beige head. Dark fruit aroma with a bit of yeast and spices. Some alcohol. Prickly mouthfeel. Spicy dark fruit flavors dominate. A little alcohol in the finish.

Batch 68081. Pours with a huge, creamy, off-white head that leaves good lacing and has great retention. Hazy deep amber body (too light in color for the style). Aroma of figs, brandy, cinnamon, black cherry and a slight sour note. Taste is very rich with strong brandy, light spices, and dark fruits everywhere. Mouthfeel is syrupy with light, natural bubbles. Not completely to style.

bottle. A very nice quad. Smooth, drinkable with a long finish. Similar to iron hill quad. Very nice. Big, fluffy head.

Appearance is wonderful. Lasting, smooth head. Aroma is slightly sour and bready, with some fruit (cherries). When you take a larger sniff the cherries come out more and the is very nice and complex. Small sniffs yield the sour bread. Mouthfeel is good. It’s one of those beers you want to swish around for a long time. Finish is a little harsh, but the alcohol is relatively well-hidden. Some nice tartness in the taste. Flavor definitely has pear coming through strong in the finish with some sweet sugary malts. Very good stuff. It gets better and better as you drink it.

Pours a deep ruby with a huge, undying beige head. The aroma is quite nice - lots of sour cherry, with a some backing generic dark fruit plus some nice spice. Very full flavor, warm alcohol, spices, brown sugar, roasted pear, banana. Nice full mouthfeel - the finish is a little rough around the edges, but very manageable. A very pleasant surprise.

750ml bottle. Poured a hazy garnet color. The head was thick and khaki with good retention. Smelled of brown sugar, pear liqueur, and clove. Medium bodied, sweet, and spicy with a warming alcohol effect that lingered with the spices to give a mulled wine-like effect. Carbonation was on the higher end of the spectrum. Brown sugar, clove, pear, and subdued banana flavors were a nice accompaniment to the booze and bubbles. Great beer.
