Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Has a deep ruby color with a small off white head. I smell dark fruits, caramel, raisins, yeast and some citrus. I taste all of the same with some banana and some light cloves. Nice Quadruple Ale....

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2013 Bottle from the Beer Shop LTD at the Days Inn Suites, Houston Hobby post breakfast luggage lightner, 22/05/13. Lightly hazed chestnut brown with a thin light tan head. Nose is dark fruits, dates, raisens, dark toffee, light spice, sugars. Taste comprises demerara sugar, dark toffee fudge, dates, dark fruits, light booze, hint of spice. Medium bodied with bite, a little over sprtized in the carbonation stakes, light booze in a sweet finish. Decent enough quad, the alcohol was well integrated, a little over spritzed though and I didn’t have time to let this calm down ... plane to catch ... beers to rate!

Poured from a bottle into my St. Bernardus chalis. Brownish copper with off-white head which disapates to a thin cap, not much lacing. Aroma is caramel malt, raisin, and belgian yeast with something sweet lingering. Taste is sweet and syrupy - some fruits in here - banana, caramel apple. Mouth feel is heavy - bready and chewy. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit sweet and in the style, there are some better choices.

Pours a copper brown with a white head. I found this to be too sweet and the alcohol is not very well hidden. Fruity, raisins, brown sugar, alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
