"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersenís The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Not my favorite style generally, but this beer blew me away. Gorgeous color with a thick head from a bottle. Slightly tart fruity nose, the head tempers the thick flavors a bit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a hazy mahogany from the bottle. Bubbly coffee cream head. Fizzy first bite. Sweet, tart, syrupy goodness. Head sticks around for the first few mouthfuls. Great quad. Heavy enough to have your attention, and bubbly citrus to keep you around.

Pours a murky dark amber with a thick mocha head. Thereís a floral, caramel, and dark fruit aroma. Sweet and mildly bitter taste that was on the boozy side. Flavorís of raisins, caramel, fruits, herbal and earthy notes. Medium body that was lively carbonated with a dry boozy finish.

Very nice quad. 12 oz bottle, sold in 4 packs; not a bad deal at all. Cloudy light brown with huge pillowy head. Aroma is raisin, fig. Quite sweet on the palate, but not sickly, malt and candi sugar, Belgian yeasts, a little boozy kick. A treat for sure. Iím splitting the bottle as an aperitif but would be ideal sipped with food. (Thanksgiving is not a bad thought.) Not quite as complex as some of the Trappist versions IMHO.

This is a delightful quad. Boulevard did exceptionally well. Big white head and a cloudy amber pour. Floral aroma with some molasses, grain, and deep fruits and spice on the nose. Plumbs, dates, nutmeg, and sweet yeast come through in the body. This was the first beer I had after coming back from a trip to Belgium where I sampled many quads (including Westy XII), and I was still impressed with this brew. It isnít perfect. It could have a little more, something special. However, donít pass this one up!

Bottle 0,75l. Pours a cloudy dark amber colour with a huge creamy mostly lasting brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of yeast, caramel, ripe dark fruit and alcohol. Lightly bitter and medium sweet taste, medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation and a brief lightly bitter somewhat sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle. Pours a darker shade of amber than their triple. This one is much fruitier. Citrus spice is replaced with raisins and dark fruit. Still a spicy and bpozy though.

Floofy, ivory/light khaki head on a misty, dark tea-colored brew. Funny label, slope-shouldered 12 oz bottle. Biotic, dark candi sugar, wormwood aroma. Candied, pretty strongly bitter, herbal notes. Mouthy and frothy, long bitter finish. Pretty good stuff, and true to style. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Bottle was loud as hell. Pour very cloudy brown with a thick two finger head that has a slight red hugh. Aroma is wonderful bouquet of fruit... apples, bananas, malt, and nuts. Complex flavors to match with caramel, fig, and brown sugar and a littlw licorice. Little boozy.
