COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersenís The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Bottled:
Deep, hazy amber with a small, dense head. The aroma brings caramel, yeast and some licorice. Flavour is caramel, alcohol and licorice. Raw and unpolished, but will probably improve with age.

Bottle, shared with dave. Medium tawny amber, off white head. Boozy nose, spicy esters and dark sugars. Flavours of brown sugar, spicy yeast, prunes, vague dark fruits. Warming finish. Nice.

Bottle. Musty, yeasty, and slightly citrus aroma. Sweet taste with caramel, dark fruit, and a bitter boozy bite in the finish. This is nice.

750 mL bottle. Nice auburn colour with a solid tan head. Mostly yeast in the nose, but the flavour is surprisingly big and complex. Fruit cake up front, a bit of booze in the finish. Honey smooth. Nice find!

I liked it but not the best quad. Toffee, molasses, caramel and bready notes. Light spice and floral notes. Plently of sugary and candy notes that make it a bit too sweet for my liking. Prunes, raisins, cherries, plums and brown sugar. Nice boozy finish with a warmth and lingering light bitterness

Bright caramel, bread aromas, yeast funk. Cloudy brown, with thick head. Slight sweetness with medium full body. Overall ok nothing special.

Bottle. Translucent orange brown with a massive head. Molasses, fig, sugar cane and clove. Sweet with a slow dry chalky fade. Body is heavier with a foamy feel.

750ml corked bottle pours amber in color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and dark pitted fruits with some hints of yeast. Taste is a fruity and caramel malty sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness and a dry yeasty finish. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Overall, this is a tasty brew that is nicely balanced and quite tasty. Recommended.

Poured from the four pack of bottles, smells like xmas, dark brown with some orange glowing on the sides, foamy fat white collar. Iím all about education so I looked up this Ole Anderson character they spoke of in the commercial description, turns out he was a professional wrestler in the 80ís, this must have been his favorite beer, canít blame him for that, itís great. I donít care if youíre Ole Anderson or Anderson Cooper, there is no way you are making it to your 6th glass of this, Itís strong!
