"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. 75 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Batch 612300. Pours a bit hazy amber with a large light brown fizzy head that leaves a good lacing. Nice aroma of dark friuts with some notes of smoke and alcohol. A bit salty and sour with some barrel aging notes to it. Some alcohol notes as well. Light body. Ok Abt but a bit of the top.

Aftertaste: honey, malty, very fruity, some banana, bitter, sourish touch.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark orange/brown amber with full head that dissipates quickly. A good Belgian nose of sugary malts, copper, yeast, and dried fruit. Flavors of herbal malts, spice, dried banana, and alcohol. Seems more of a light dubbel in flavor and mouthfeel but with a big ABV. Anyway - very nice and very "Belgian". Great.

Bottle into snifter. Pours a deep caramel color with a huge tan head that fades without disappearing and lightly laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and smells of dried fruits. Flavor is also sweet with hints of caramel. Goes down warmly but smoothly, the alcohol is not overpowering in the slightest. An excellent beer.
