COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

12 oz. bottle; nice to revisit with the smaller format release; clear vibrant gold with huge eggy white head fading slowly; dry malt and pineapple on the nose; white sugar, straw, oranges and lemons; crisp, clean lemony malt with faint spice; silky smooth with somewhat sweet note at the end; dry honey, pale malt and crisp fruity mix; yum; dangerously drinkable; certainly not complex, but so refreshing, smooth and in balance; a terrific saison

Pours straw yellow with about a finger of quickly dissipating head, very murky because of the yeast. Smell is very refreshing, citrusy, bit of pineapple. Taste is a bit sour, lemon zest, citrus peels, horsey/barnyard taste towards the back. Light bodied and drinkable. Interesting beer, or maybe the style.

Starts off with a light dry malt that are paired with spicy peppery notes. Mid-stream builds with floral notes then ends with grapefruity hops. Finishes grainy, dry, with a tad bit of funk. Fantastic!

12oz bottle from Dresden. Hazy pale yellow with a generous slightly off white head that settles to a 1/4 finger layer of foam. Some yeast, light spice, peach, very mild funk with some soapy characteristics, alcohol presence, some citrus and bitter hops. Moderate carbonation and body, slightly bitter, becomes dry, with more citrus and hops, lemon comes through for sure, quite bitter at the end.

Draft at Leroy’s in Montgomery. Pours yellow golden with thick, frothy head.  Aroma of Belgian yeast and light spices.  Spicy, peppery taste.  Easy drinking.

Draft at a bar in St Louis. Light golden orange/yellow, with a nice pile of white foam on top. Citrusy and yeasty aroma. Drinks with a grassy bite up front, but settles into a nice, continental yeasty beer for the most part. But there’s still a nice subtle bitter bite at the end that made me go back for more. Delish! 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best by 3/31/2012. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 2-3 finger fairly dense white head with great retention that reduces to a nice lap that lingers. Some spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big lemon, orange, pepper, coriander, apple, pear, herbs, biscuit, and yeast spices. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good complexity. Taste of big grass, pepper, lemon, clove, coriander, biscuit, herbal spiciness, pear, orange, lightly tart grain, and yeast spices. Good amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, grass, pepper, clove, and herbal spices on the finish for a bit. Fairly dry on the finish. Nice balance of flavors with nice complexity. Medium body and carbonation; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. No alcohol noticed other than a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is an excellent and very enjoyable saison; with good complexity and smooth drinking.

12 oz bottle: Pours a hazy yellow with a thick white head and a huge column of CO2 rising from the center of the glass. Aroma is sweet and citrusy with some banana and coriancer present. Taste is spicy and smooth with a nice balance of light malt and citrus hops along iwth some nice Belgian yeast. Bubbly on the palate like chanpagne, nice fruity body make this a versatile brew.

Lemon yellow body that pours clear until the bottom of the bottle. Nice 3-dimensional head of white. Nice lacing. Spicy fresh lemony aroma. Lightly sweet, spicy and light. Lively body. Refreshing, well done.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a pure white longstanding head that leaves lacing. The nose out of the bottle is hops with slight citrus. Light/medium body with a slight maltiness. Hop bitterness is more than evident. Palate is characterized by a crispy driness followed by a lingering bitter aftertaste. Is there a way to make such a great beer with less alcohol. I know, why ask? Enjoy!
