COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

No. 8 in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. "Double Witbier"

Conventional wisdom holds that there are two sides to every story. Though our new Two Jokers Double-Wit is hardly conventional, there are in fact two distinct pieces to its personality. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” beer, a style dating back to the late 1800s. The use of lactic fermentation and ingredients like coriander and orange peel are hallmarks of the style, as are the cloudiness and the pale color that give the beer its name. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American specialty brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, lavender, and grains of paradise. Two Jokers has a refreshing tartness, nicely balanced by a well rounded malt bill graced by notes of caramel. Belgian yeast brings floral aromas with hints of banana and clove, and a citrusy zing to the tongue. Two Jokers Double-Wit pairs well with the lighter fare of spring and summer, such as grilled fish or chicken, feta cheese, fresh garden salads, and fruit compotes.

Poured from a bottle it is a cloudy light yellow with a slight head. The aroma is lemon and the taste is a bitter lemon that lingers on the palate

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Aroma of lemon. Flavors of mandarin orange, pineapple and tart green apples. Tart finish.

Large bottle purchased at Elevated in South Mpls. Consumed in bumped pint glass. Strangely, you can hear the effervescence as it’s poured. Aroma leans on tropical fruit, almost champagne like. The.effervescent theme seems prevalent throughout consumption. Spicy, Belgian-esque taste. Tropical notes. Shocked this has an ABV of 8.0%. Really interesting beer. Easy to drink. I recommend trying this beer. Two jokers plus two wits beats a Hoegarden hand any day.

Big bottle from elevated. Lovely light orange color with very thick white head. Very effervescent, could actually hear it as it poured. Tropical smell almost like pineapple juice. Tastes spicy and fruity. Taste is long lasting. Was like a raddler but with some alcohol bite. Very interesting beer, glad to have experienced these jokers.

Batch number looks a little smudged but the best by date says "02-2015." This was poured into a mug because it’s a witbier. The appearance was a hazy off orange color with a decent transparency about it to allow light stringy streams of carbonation to be seen rising. The head was about a finger’s thick of white foaminess. The smell had a super nice sweet juicy orange, and then an orange peel with a substantial coriander and cardamom to spice things up a bit. The taste was spicy and sticky sweet intruding a subtle gentle citrus in and out. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation had a decent harshness about it but it was also slightly refreshingly smooth. Overall, this was a really nice witbier that makes a really nice late Summer’s session.

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Hazy yellow color with a thick white head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, spice and wheat. Medium body with flavors of citrus, peppery yeast and coriander. The finish is fruity with an herbal wheat aftertaste. Above average overall.

Lightly hazy golden color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is wheat, lemon, grain, pale malt, citrus, lightly sour. Medium bodied, citrusy flavor dominates with a lightly sour malt base, I kind of like this.
