COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

No. 8 in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. "Double Witbier"

Conventional wisdom holds that there are two sides to every story. Though our new Two Jokers Double-Wit is hardly conventional, there are in fact two distinct pieces to its personality. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” beer, a style dating back to the late 1800s. The use of lactic fermentation and ingredients like coriander and orange peel are hallmarks of the style, as are the cloudiness and the pale color that give the beer its name. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American specialty brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, lavender, and grains of paradise. Two Jokers has a refreshing tartness, nicely balanced by a well rounded malt bill graced by notes of caramel. Belgian yeast brings floral aromas with hints of banana and clove, and a citrusy zing to the tongue. Two Jokers Double-Wit pairs well with the lighter fare of spring and summer, such as grilled fish or chicken, feta cheese, fresh garden salads, and fruit compotes.

The sole reason I bought this beer when i saw it is that it was ’born in’ Kansas City, just like I was. Pours a beautiful hazy blonde with a lovely coriander-orange-lavender nose. On the tongue, delicate feathers of malt hit the palate with a nice balance between the malt, sour, spice, and floral components. I’m glad i saved this one for autumn; the ’double’ strength of this beer pushes it firmly from summer into autumn. A beautiful beer, i hope to get to have it in the future.

Bomber. Hazy gold pour with ample white head but little retention. Nose has some faint citrus and plenty of wheaty and grainy characteristics. Not enough banana. Taste was very clean with light fruit but really not a whole lot more. I would like to try this semi fresh next time ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very strong citrus taste. Compared to a blue moon, this kicks a blue moon’s ass. Very faint orange color.

Taste better if you age for about a year. Is a really tasty summer brew. Especially after mowing the lawn.

A nice gold color with a white head that mostly fades. The aroma is dominated by the Belgian yeast with a bit of lemon. The taste is a mix of a typical wit and a sour, both sour lemon and bready yeast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle into tulip, bottled 1-2011; best by 12-2011. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big banana, pepper, clove, herbs, ginger, wheat, citrus, bubblegum, light bread, and yeast spices. Some very nice and highly complex aromas, with great balance. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, pepper, clove, apple, citrus peel, light herbs, bread, grainy tartness, and yeast spices. Fairly dry finish; but some lingering notes of banana, bubblegum, tart grain, bread, spices, and citrus on the finish for a bit. Medium body and elevated carbonation; with a slightly creamy and slick mouthfeel, with some light prickly carbonation. Extremely smooth to drink; with pretty much no alcohol noticed at all for 8%. Overall this is an excellent imperial Witbier. Great balance of flavors; big complexity; and very smooth to drink for the level of alcohol. Really enjoyed this one.

Golden, cloudy unfiltered appearance. The nose shows herbs and citrus zest. Medium carbonation, but a thick head, heavy lacing. Bright, fresh and delicious. Esters/florals on the finish. Great stuff!
