COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer is a lively, refreshing ale with a naturally citrusy flavor and distinctive cloudy appearance. It is reminiscent of the wheat beers that were brewed at the turn of the century, before the advent of modern filtration. This easy-drinking American-style wheat beer has become our most popular offering, and the best-selling craft beer in the Midwest. 2008 GABF gold medal winner in Session Beer category.

Appearance: Pours a hazy pale straw color with a white head that provides minimal lacing. Aroma: Bready malt with sour fruit. Taste: Mild flavor with malt breadiness and mild hops bitterness with a hint of citrus sourness. Texture: Very light in flavor and crisp with carbonation. Drinkability: Goes down very easily, but doesn’t leave you craving more. Presentation: Poured from a 12oz bottle into a wheat beer glass.

Such a good hefeweizen. This is probably the most crisp hefeweizen I can remember drinking. It feels full upon sipping it, not hollow like so many other hefes that seem to be missing something substantial. It’s very clear, too, and just tastes like something you’d want to keep drinking.

Bottle pour into pint glass from Whole Foods. Aroma is sour yeast, very Kolsch-like. Appearance is hazy greenish yellow with nice sparkle, finger-width frothy white head with good retention but minimal lacing. Taste is mainly tart with mild citrus sweet ending. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation with late lively zing to tongue and tart finish as above. Overall, the sour side of wheat beers, which is not my favorite.

Pours a cloudy yellow from the tap with a thick white head. Aroma is fairly generic, mostly bread. Taste is light citrus with a heavy bread flavor on the backend. Not bad.

Pours cloudy yellow with a one finger white head with decent lacing. Aroma is of wheat, citrus, floral hops, cloves, and some light tropical notes. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium-light body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a semi dry, slightly bitter, refreshing, medium finish. Overall, a decent wheat ale that is very refreshing and easy drinking.

Cloudy yellow, ample white head. Light citrusy tangerine, grain. Light bitterness, surprisingly dry. Light effervescent body, short finish. Pleasant.

Twelve ounce can from Boulevard Summer variety pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on 8/1/2015. Very cloudy orange/yellow color, sweet yeasty nose, sweet wheat flavor with some distracting astringency that lowers the score. All right for a summer drink but there are better options.

Can from Julios. Pale hazy yellow gold with lasting head and lace. Very sweet and grassy aroma. Very sweet banana melon with very wheaty umami (?) taste and wheaty texture. With some herbal and mineral bitterness. Medium body sof t carbo. A mixed bag. But overall too sweet and lacking the esters and clean finish of a good hefe...and I don’t even want to get into how much I loathe American wheat ale.
