12 oz. bottle from the mixed 12 pack. Pours a cola tea color with a sudsy dirty white head that settles to a soapy film and sticky lacing. Aroma has bready malt light fruitiness and spice. Taste is bitter bready and rye with some spice and mild fruity flavors. Palate is thin with fizzy carbonation and drying spice finish.

A hazy, brown pour with a reddish hue and a frothy, off-white head. The aroma has spicy rye with bread and some mild chocolate. It has a light, smooth texture with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a dry finish.

Bottle. Aroma of malts and some weird, tangy note. The taste is the same...wonky tang to an otherwise decent beer. I like it, but it’s nothing crazy. 5.2% alcohol.

Decent rye here. Light, but not assaulting. Would not have guessed it as a rye, actually.

A cloudy brown beer with a small off white head. The aroma is hoppier than I would have imagined, but not overly so, with a grain backing. The flavor is nutty, a little fruity, a little bread.

Decent rye, rye is a little underwhelming, decent hop profile, good enough for a mix pack, but not anything outstanding.

bottled, reddish amber in color , nice caramel and metal nose, flavor has some rye and pine but not overly so, nice balance although somewhat softer than expected, nice finish

Sampled at the 2013 Artisans Craft Beer Festival. It poured a cloudy golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of mild hops and rye. The taste was a good bit of bitter rye, without being too much, and a nice touch of piney and grassy hops. A very enjoyable brew.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 12oz bottle poured into a brand new 10oz Allagash goblet (just purchased about 1 hour before drinking the beer and way more exiting than the beer itself). Laser printed on the neck of the label: 3221 best by 01 06 14 (packaged August 04, 2013). Pours a dark reddish hued amber color. Glowing in color but a bit too dark to completely see through. Has a tight, small, long lasting head. Aroma is rye strong with a spicy tang sweetness. Some light caramel coming through and a stripped out earthiness. Flavor has more stripped down and lacking character, generic caramel character with little unattenuated sugar. So, I like the clean character but its too clean, I just get essence of rye and what seems like a beer with no nuance or character. Strong tangy rye kick at the very end of the flavor. Maybe some musky British hops in the mix as well. I could drink it again (and I have 2 more bottles) but I don’t feel motivated to do so. As I pour out the last 3 ounces of the beer I like it more. Less stripped out with a little more earthy quality and some breadiness.
