3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at the 2013 Artisans Craft Beer Festival. It poured a cloudy golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of mild hops and rye. The taste was a good bit of bitter rye, without being too much, and a nice touch of piney and grassy hops. A very enjoyable brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 12oz bottle poured into a brand new 10oz Allagash goblet (just purchased about 1 hour before drinking the beer and way more exiting than the beer itself). Laser printed on the neck of the label: 3221 best by 01 06 14 (packaged August 04, 2013). Pours a dark reddish hued amber color. Glowing in color but a bit too dark to completely see through. Has a tight, small, long lasting head. Aroma is rye strong with a spicy tang sweetness. Some light caramel coming through and a stripped out earthiness. Flavor has more stripped down and lacking character, generic caramel character with little unattenuated sugar. So, I like the clean character but its too clean, I just get essence of rye and what seems like a beer with no nuance or character. Strong tangy rye kick at the very end of the flavor. Maybe some musky British hops in the mix as well. I could drink it again (and I have 2 more bottles) but I don’t feel motivated to do so. As I pour out the last 3 ounces of the beer I like it more. Less stripped out with a little more earthy quality and some breadiness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chillin out waiting for the laundry to finish edition.
Pours an amber color with a big head that fades into a small tight head, one that leaves nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is sort of like an amber ale, with maybe a little more going on... lightly sweet & malty with some red apple character and some toastiness.
The flavor is drier than the aroma lets on, it’s certainly got a distinct sharpness to it, some light bitterness, some toasty malt. The flavor sort of falls flat towards the finish but does have some nice lingering character on the front of the palate.
(after I finished my bottle edit): the flavor got nicer as it warmed and/or opened up, got nuttier... bitterness better integrated, more balance/easier to drink, with light chocolate subtleties...
Kind of was hoping for a little, un-barreled version of rye on rye... maybe that’s what this is, but it’s not really what I had in mind.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a cloudy brown with yellow/orange highlights and a tan head that receded pretty quickly. Aroma is malt, caramel and yeast with a little grain. Malt is at the front of the taste but it changes quickly to a strong grainy taste in the middle that has a bite that's a little spicy. Finishes with a slightly roasty bitterness. Medium, slightly oily mouthfeel with some alcohol warmth.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from the sampler. Rich copper colored body with a dense off white head on top. The nose is rich with some walnuts and grapefruit. Notes of caramel and a little bit of spice are also present. The body is slick and slightly greasy with light carbonation. There is a little hint of spice at the front and it is more definite rye on the back end. Bits of walnuts are present with some dough and an odd citrus that is not well balanced. A let down for Boulevard. Not bad, but just nothing really reaches out and grabs me.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma of this beer is a combination of rye, dough yeast, and caramel malts, and the appearance fuses a heavily hazy burnt orange color with a large off-white head. The taste is quite sour and slightly sweet, and the palate combines a medium body, lively carbonation, slick texture, and a long, slightly sour finish.
