Pretty tasty all in all; nice peppery notes, a touch weak on the finish, but overall a very drinkable beer. I like it; not the best beer I’ve ever put in my mouth but not one that I’d turn down either.

12oz bottle 3/6/14 (Binny’s Downers Grove Mix A Six)-41° in Shaker-Pours an amber with a one finger off white head. Aroma of rye, hops, and malt. Taste of the same with some citrus and pine. This medium bodied brew is not bad.

Cloudy brown body with a medium white head and nice lacing. Aroma is faint hops and pine. Full flavor, hops, slight citrus and subtle pine. Dry finish, not bad.

This poured a cloudy gold color with a white head. Nose citrus hops and the rye .Medium plus in body. Flavor is grassy, floral, and citrus hops, and the rye works well here. Bitter rye finish. Well crafted beer.

Rye beers are intriguing but also odd. Their peppery taste can be excellent or overbearing. Boulevard is known for crafting some masterful beers with rye. Though good, Westside Rye is certainly not an example of mastery. The beer has a dark copper appearance and little head. The aroma is subdued but reasonably complex. Wheat malts create a sweet smell that hints at clove. There’s also a slightly toasted malt aroma with a touch of spice from the rye. Sadly, the flavor doesn’t have as much to offer. There’s a pleasant sharpness from the rye and a smooth graininess from the other malts, but the end result is underwhelming. All the same, this beer benefits from its balance and refreshing feel. Nothing amazing but it’s not a beer you regret having.

Not usually a fan of this type of ale. Smell and colour wasn’t particularly remarkable but this was a very drinkable ale. I would definitely drink this if i seen it in a bar.

At my place with Taylor after a long busy season work week. Pours burly maroon brown. Aroma is huge rye and rough earthy hops. Taste is rough harsh hops.

Really enjoyed this beer. I want to say that it's one dimensional, but it's really not. What it is: a brass quintet with a rambunctious French horn player, or the Phantom of the Opera heard live with a really drunk bass trombone player. Other Flavors exist, but you only really pay attention to the one.

Pours a dark copper with golden hue, the smell is mostly golden malts. The flavor is a rich grainy malty brew, moderate rye for the high percentage, finishes with a drying grainy English bitter type finish. Interesting at first but ends up not to interesting, very straight forward.
