Hazy, dirty, dark amber pour with a 2 finger, creamy beige head and high effervescence. Aroma is slightly tangy fruit and grain, cereal, toast, floral and spicy hops and a hint of caramel. Flavor is toast, floral honey, odd sour grainy notes, a bit of caramel spicy and raw rye grain a little grass and floral hops. Light to medium body with a dry, slightly astringent feel throughout, light, but sharp and blanketing carbonation. Decent overall, but it doesn’t seem to really stand out on anything other than rye, it could use a distinct hop note or malty character. The more I drink the better it gets, but still, it doesn’t really interest me.

4/19/2014. From bottle. Copper color with a tan head. Malt and caramel aromas. Seem a bit this. Caramel flavors mostly.

Actually this beer surprised me...better than anticipated...then again it is my fifth...might have to rerate...paired with this mustard soaked bologna sandwich it was fantastic...i will have to try again when its my first of the night.

Pours a nice looking copper color. Malty aroma but fairy subdued. Taste is caramel malt with some herbal hops and rye.

Bottled. Mahogany/Persian red in color with a small white head that falls to a lacy, thin ring. Aroma has notes of light spruce, mild juniper berry, toast, and very mild rye bread. Mild to moderate bitterness is very one-dimensional with flavors of light leather, citrus rind, and light grasses. A touch of alcohol at the tail end. Ok, but I prefer my rye beers to highlight the malted rye quite a bit more.

12 oz bottle. Amber brown in color with an average sized off-white head. Aroma is of rye, malt, caramel, bread dough, nuts, some pear ands apple. Taste is of rye, caramel, light herbal notes, toffee, and funnel cake (sans powdered sugar).

Bottle. The look is top dark to see through, light peanut colored head, and reddish brown in color. The smell is light, toast, roast, malt, and rye bread. The taste is malts, roast, some bitterness, spice, rye, and ok.

Bottle. 3/12/14. Pours syrupy, opaque, syrupy brown with a fluffy, bubbly white head. Aroma is subtle; dry, malty, rye, earthy, spicy. Not a ton going on int he aroma. Taste is dry, bitter, bready (yeasty), mild, rye, hint of smoke; finish is dry, fruit peel, wheat and rye malt, leather. Interesting. Lacing is spotty but consistent. Mouth feel is medium bodied, creamy. Carbonation is medium-low but active. Mild, malty, drinkable. At 5.2% ABV, it’s almost sessionable. I expected a lot more out of this beer. It’s unfortunately a bit boring. Breaks my heart saying that about a brewery that I am so fond of.

Bottle. A- Rye, toast, wheat. A- Brown color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Rye, malty, toast, wheat, pepper. P- Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, grainy finish. O- My first beer brewed with rye. Can’t say I was totally in awe but definitely wasn’t let down either. I think this was lacking a little bit, but the rye was present and while I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for another, the flavors blend decently. Almost tastes like liquid marble rye bread.
