3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 11, 2004
To create maximum head, I poured this one into a Weihenstephaner glass, to absolutely no effect. Color is a cloudy straw yellow, whiter around the edges. Aroma beautifully pegs the witbier style: orange and lemon + spice, zesty, alert, and arousing!
Generous texture, tasty wheat, deliciously gritty and satisfying.
They have captured the very essence of a wit in this one, though it never inches beyond what is expected. Eminently drinkable, though, and quite a thirst-quencher. I’d slam ’em down ’til the cows come home in summertime!

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2004 Pours a bright yellow with a frosty white head. Aroma is a nice mix of bananas and citrus. Flavor is deffinatly citrus with some yeasty qualities. Nothing really stands out to let you know its there. Nice and refreshing but kind of light.

Looks alot like lemon juice, fizzy firm starch white cap, fizzes away quickly to a thin collar, not much lacing- very minimal spots. Aroma is of fresh cirtusy lemon and orange rinds, quite zesty, spicy with some lemon zip and crispy with wheat. Taste is a bit short lived and tame, not as long or sharp as most Wit’s. The lemon is tame as is the wheat structure, spices are low and non lingering. Fades off pretty quickly leaving some woodish pulp, pear, and apple notes and finishes a bit empty if not watery. An OK beer at best. Still like Bully though.

Pale straw colored, extremely cloudy, with a small, white head. Yeasty banana, clove, orange zest aroma, along with the slightest hint of sour wheat grains. Banana sweetness upfront in the flavor, slightly caramelized (like fried bananas), with a spicy zip (coriander). Crisp and definitely refreshing. A winner.

Cloudy pale hay color, with a mediumparticled collapsing white head. The aroma is light wheat, with definte spiciness, coriander, and some sweetness. The flavor is fairly nice and refeshing, again light wheat with moserate spiciness and a very pleasing bit of sweetness. A bit sweeter than I used to with this style. The body is light with a lively mouthfeel and a crisp refreshing finish. Not bad. Thanks Indra!

I love Boulevard, but I do not like this beer at all. Has an unpleasant aroma and aftertaste. Another beer that pubs often serve with lemon, which I don’t particularly like. Worst (by far) of all Boulevard beers.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nexxus (261) - Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA - MAY 16, 2004
A cloudy very pale lemon yellow with a thin diminishing white head. It looks like a good lemonade. Grassy aroma of lemon, coriander, clove, pepper, and wheat. Medium slightly velvety body with lively carbonation. Very refreshing. I could drink a lot of these. Flavor of wheat, lemon, orange, clove, coriander and pepper.
It is a little weak, and not as pleasing as the aroma. Decent, but not great, forgettable.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2004 Very good aromas of lemon, coriander, and spice hit me as soon as I opened the bottle. This beer is very light yellow, nearly white. Flavor is subdued. All of the qualities are there, but not enough of them. Thin. Point does a better wit.

In the bottle. Not so white and a little clearer than it should be for the style. Light on the orange and lemon flavors, but present. As with the other Boulevard ales, the pH is balanced and you can drink a bathtub full in one sitting. It’s smooth.
