COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard’s summer seasonal is our interpretation of a classic Belgian witbier. ZŌN (Flemish for “sun”) combines the subtle flavors of coriander and orange peel with other traditional ingredients to create a delightful, refreshing summertime brew. 2009 GABF gold medal winner in Belgian-Style Witbier category.

It poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of wheat, spices, and citrus. The flavor was of spices, like some coriander and cloves, wheat, and fruits including citrus and bananas. A decent witbier.

very good witbier with noticeable lemon, unfiltered, treading waters close to a hefeweisen. a solid beer that is sessionable.

This definitely looks the part of a wit w/ its pale, cloudy golden hue--though its head is sparse and foamy, not the most appealing thing to me. Nose hits initially w/ a thick bready yeast smell but that wanes quickly to a more fruity banana and citrus character. The flavor is nice and light, quite appropriate, but the texture is unfortunately a bit wattery w/ sparse, large bubbled carbonation. While this beer is not w/o its imperfections, it still does what it sets out to do reasonably well.

Bottle. This is an excellent wit. Pretty much to style, maybe a touch sharply sweet with a watery finish, could use a tad more there, lemon, touch of rubber, light banana, some gritty wheat under there, a bit thin in the finish, nice carbonation but almost too watery, sizzling carbonation. Could be stellar if it weren’t so watered down tasting.

12 oz bottle into tumbler. Pours hazy whitish-yellow with a medium white head that falls in a minute, leaving a blanket of foam that remains there for the entire glass. Aroma is rich in clove. Taste is sweet and spicy with no bitterness; a bit meaty, too. Nice clove flavor. Highly carbonated with a medium to light body. Nice wit, but this is one of those beers that seems to taste better straight from the bottle. I tried it over the weekend without a glass and it seemed so much better.

Very cloudy golden lemon color, very thin white head, but nice lacing. The aroma is subdued, but notes of wheat, citrus, banana, and pineapple are there. The palate is thin but it adds to the summery refreshing quality. The flavor is somewhat light with wheat and citrus being central, and hints of coriander backing them up. Overall, it is a delicate witbier and highly drinkable, definitely a summer drink. The flavor is a little watery, but the wheat and citrus punch is more than enough to maintain an interest.

On Tap at Rackhouse, Denver 16/09/2010 Banana fruit aroma. Golden coloured hazy in appearance and smooth on the palate with a very dry malt finish.

It isn’t half bad, sort of watery, but not as perverse as some north american wheat versions.
