Cloudy yellow; Thin head; Nose of a typical wit, could smell from 2’ away. Crisp, wheaty. Bracing citrus. Refreshing. Even features a bit oiliness.

In a head-to-head with Victory’s Whirlwind, these beers are very similar. Both have that nice touch of sourness and crisp coriander spiciness that makes for a great witbier. Perhaps the Victory scores the win, by a nose, but Zon has a great mouthfeel and is sure to quench the biggest thirst.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2003 I love tasting a beer, that I had never heard of and had absolutely no expectations for and I end really liking the taste. THe aroma gives away everything int the taste and that is kind of disappointing. I taste the typical belgian appetifs, such as bananas, cloves, corianders and orange peels. A midley complex taste, medium bodied, and very light and golden. I would drink it again. Very tasty and liveing on the tastebuds. Thanks Indra!

What an underrated brew, there is a definite wheat beer bias here. ’Now its time for me to make my impression felt. So sit back, relax, and strap on your seat belt.’ Pours a cloudy, extremely hazy, can just barely see through it, dark straw/yellow color. The medium sized head fades quickly. Aroma is strong, especially for a Wit. First is a sweet, dough-y, Belgian yeastiness all wrapped around a hefty chunk of coriander. After that there is a light lemon with other citrus characteristics and a very light fishy wheatiness. A very nice Belgian character but there is a definite American twist in it, just sort of subdued and cleaner on the nose despite all those very ’Belgian-yeast’ characteristics Taste seems like a definite mix of American wheat and Belgian Wit. Its a rather clean wheat, not so many esters bouncing off. But there is plenty of coriander (which I love) and other citrus flavors (probably due to the coriander). Finishes with a lightly sweet candy aftertaste. The body is a bit thicker for a 4.4% Wit but a good tingly carbonation to go along with it. So you get the best of both worlds with it. Its not ’fresh’ at the moment, since this comes out in the beginning of summer but I have been drinking this for 2 months and its wunderbar. If you like Wits, this is a definite treat. As far as I know this has changed rather drastically over the years but I think they hit the hammer on the nail with this batch. 12oz bottle, New Belgium snifter/goblet glass.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2005 Bottle: Definitly a hazy almost dirty looking pale yellow/gold color. The head appears almost flat if that makes any sense-standard hieght (1/8"-1/4")throught entire pour. Has a citrus and yeast scent to it. The taste reminds me a lot of boulevards unfiltered wheat, but with a little bit more bitter to it and sharper/crisper taste (although mine might be a touch too cold). Overall a very enjoyable beer.

What a great belgian white!! Obnoxious banana clove component, wonderfully densely foggy yellow appearance, and just a great drinkable beer

12oz bottle. Hazy orange yellow color with a respectable head. Crisp, pleasant mouthfeel, well carbonated. Lots of orange and citrus flavors, coriander as well I suppose. A little too spiced if anything. Lots of yeasty character as well. This is one of the better American White Ales I’ve had.

More cloudy than hazy (OK). Pours a bright white, but short lived head. The aroma is quite impressive - very authentically Belgian with a light citrus (lemon), some spiciness and a sweet fruitiness (peach, maybe a little mango in the back there somewhere?). The flavor is more subdued with a very limited malt and a light, dry fruitiness. There’s some coriander at mid swallow, and the finish is dry with a light touch of acidity. The light bodied but zesty palate helps to pull this off. A-just-above-average beer with a good label and name that has no flaws but leaves me almost wishing it had some to give it a little bit of complexity. Of course, this is my perfect ’lawnmower beer’.

First effect of every sip here explodes in the mouth with tartness. It quickly settles into more classic wit flavors. The tongue seems to burst with little sparks throughout the glass. Coriander and cloves are prominent. Plenty of citrus, too. A very good beer, smooth, with a hint of tart and some spice. An excellent beer!

Cloudy yellow with a nice white head that lingers throughout. Lightly wheaty and spicy. Nice.
