COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong ale or "Winter Warmer" with dark red-brown color and a very rich malty flavor. Dry-hopped lightly with Cascades for a pleasant aroma and slightly spicy hop finish. This big beer is deceptively strong, yet tastes very smooth thanks to extra long cold conditioning.Original Gravity: 1.072

Nice sweet vanilla aroma. Taste is malty enough, but came off kind of chemically. Balanced bitterness. Finish was funky and off. I was expecting more, oh well.

22 oz. bottle from a local wine shop, out of all places. Nice fluffy off-white head. Slightly hazy with a dark copper brown color. Iím not seeing anything wrong with this beer. There is a strong presence of yeast in the aroma. Slightly spicy banana, raisin, and booze aroma. This is much fruitier than I expected, but it has some great aromas. A lot more nuttiness comes through when I taste the beer. The aforementioned booze flavor, yeast, and raisin come through subtly. Wow, other than the somewhat astringent booze flavor, this beer is quite good. The texture is almost silky. Job well done from a Northern brewer. Iíll have to pay them a visit.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2013 22 oz bottle. Pours a murky amber brown with a thin creamy head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, and solid bourbon notes. Taste is rich lightly roasted malts with nice earthy hop flavors and delicious bourbon on the finish. I donít think this was barrel-aged, but itís definitely there. Bottle is maybe 6 months old, so who knows. Hard to believe this is only 7%, tastes bigger. One of the best NW winter beers, and thatís saying something. Would love to see a version of this cranked up to imperial range.
