This beer has wonderful color and flavor. Espresso looking in body and head. The taste is roasty but very light and clean. These guys know what they are doing.

Serving: from nitro tap at Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro. Aroma: light malt aroma. Appearance: average-sized, creamy, light-brown initial head with fair lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Clear, dark-brown body. Taste: lightly soapy initial flavor and lightly roasty finish with short duration. Palate: medium-to-full body, watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall: I wouldn’t drink this again.

On tap at Boundary Bay, pours an amber-tinged deep dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of lightly bitter dry roast, oats and a touch of bitter dry cocoa. Flavour is quite dry and very bitter, with bitter roast and metallic notes dominating. Thin body with a weak flavour profile. Not too inspiring.

Draught at the brewpub
Black color, with beige creamy head. Light aroma of cardboard, paper and roasted malt. Dry mouthfeel, smooth, but maybe because of some diacetyl there is also a light milky feeling, so it lands between Dry Stout and Milk Stout; ordinary bitterness.

Draft at the Old Town in Ballard. On nitro, alas...but this beer is big enough to fight through that. Pours jet black and a wee bit chalky looking under a dense and creamy tan brick of nitromousse. Nice roasty nose with mild chocolate notes coming through. Creamy medium body, I mean really creamy silky smooth, with virtually no carb showing. Roasty chocolately mid palate, very rich and approachable and pleasant. Mild roasty finish. Very agreeable. Love to try this on CO2 some time.

Sample at Boundary Bay brewpub. Poured a dark but slightly permeable black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, some roast and slight chocolate. Taste was warming, layered and very decent. Malt is toasty with good residual hop bite. Excellent offering.

Nitro tap at the brewery. Black pour with a pillowy light beige nitro head. Mild aroma of coffee. This is a smooth, creamy, low sweetness stout that finishes very dry, as the name suggests. This tastes of pleasantly coffee and chocolate toastiness with a touch of smoke and char. Slightly acidic.
