This beer has wonderful color and flavor. Espresso looking in body and head. The taste is roasty but very light and clean. These guys know what they are doing.

4.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nitro Tap, Old Towne, Ballard. No need to compare this to Guiness. Get over it! Guiness is a macro beer. And a light beer at that. It’s not some sort of hand crafted jewel. Thats where this stout comes in. It is a hand crafted jewel. This stout stands on its own merits. If this were available on a regular basis at the pubs I frequent I would order it at least 50% of the time. Quit the "Guiness Light" statements and get down to brass tacks. This is a great stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nitro tap. Dark brown pour with a thin creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts and a touch of tartness and bitter chocolate. Interesting. Dry and roasty with a nice sour/tart quality that leaves the mouth insanely dry. This is very nice. Light and incredibly smooth. The beer that I had sounds a little different then the ones that others had, as it was not run of the mill at all.

Taster – Boundary Bay Brewery – Bellingham, WA
big dark malt aroma with a light coffee/chocolate aroma lingering. The flavor was great and this beer finishes so dry I needed water. This was another great brew for the day.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nitro tap at the brewery. Black pour with a pillowy light beige nitro head. Mild aroma of coffee. This is a smooth, creamy, low sweetness stout that finishes very dry, as the name suggests. This tastes of pleasantly coffee and chocolate toastiness with a touch of smoke and char. Slightly acidic.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was a really good beer, but being brewed within the style I can't help but think of it as a souped-up Giunness. The head was gorgeous and the body was full of espresso and bitter chocolate. Very dry, but that is kind of a repetitive statement isn't it? I liked this better than the Imperial actually.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer has a great coffee character to it, even if it is a little on the light side for a stout.

Sample at Boundary Bay brewpub. Poured a dark but slightly permeable black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, some roast and slight chocolate. Taste was warming, layered and very decent. Malt is toasty with good residual hop bite. Excellent offering.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at the Old Town in Ballard. On nitro, alas...but this beer is big enough to fight through that. Pours jet black and a wee bit chalky looking under a dense and creamy tan brick of nitromousse. Nice roasty nose with mild chocolate notes coming through. Creamy medium body, I mean really creamy silky smooth, with virtually no carb showing. Roasty chocolately mid palate, very rich and approachable and pleasant. Mild roasty finish. Very agreeable. Love to try this on CO2 some time.
