jmcguire1969 (144), Lafayette, Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2007 Had this at the SoSun hop harvest 2007. The aroma on this smelled really odd. The taste was full of heavy malts which was an oddball compared to the other DIPA’s I was trying. It was a bit too heavy for my personal taste. The hops and bitterness were ok but I couldn’t get over the sweet malty flavors that got hotter and hotter as I sipped on it. I will definitely give one another shot since it was bookended by other DIPAs but it did not stand out in a good way tonight.
Taverner (517), San Ramon, California, USA Sep 15, 2008 If this was available in the Bay Area, it would have regular rotation in my fridge. Unfortunately, this was a one-off after going to Brouers. This one has some nice, soapy, aromatic hops in it. There’s a nice biscuity flavor that comes out later, after the hops have faded. Slight banana nose in this one. HoppyGuy (111), USA Aug 24, 2008 On tap. Pours a coppery amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is floral and hoppy, with a hint of citrus. Flavor is very hoppy, floral, with some citrus (grapefruit?) in it. Bitter finish. This is a bold IPA, and is not for anyone who is hops-impaired. I’d like to pair this brew with some spicy food, such as chicken breast cooked with jalapenos, onions and bell peppers. Copper colored brew. Sweet malty aroma with some hops. Very floral, hoppy and some sweet fruits. Some bitterness. drfabulous (800), Columbia, Missouri, USA May 27, 2008 My notes emphasize the word "traditional." My recollection is that this one kicked all the other IPAs’ butt that night. Nice and hoppy. shp555 (1377), lilburn, Georgia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, some toasted malt, and fruity floral hops. Flavor is malty, caramel, toasted malt, and a bitter floral finish.
