3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BARLEYWINEO (106) - Tacoma, USA - APR 28, 2012
A: Poured a nice burnt orange color with good carbonation leaving a nice white cap
S: Holy grapefruit, oprange peel and pine needles
T: Immediate warmth and bitterness with a blast of big grapefruit, orange peel with a balance of pine resin and light trpocial fruit. Finish is tangy, bitter and bitter again. A mix of grapefruit acidic bitterness and hop bite sitting on a caramel malt backbone and hints of bread
M: Big body, lots of flavor, low carbonation leaving a rather heavy IIPA
O: Pretty good but the grapefruit and orange peel notes were very much on your face, a little to much.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheSponge (341) - Lynnwood, Washington, USA - APR 21, 2012
22 oz. bottle purchased at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA. Pours a cloudy amber color with an off-white head. Grapefruit peel. Flavor: Same as the aroma. This one is decent, but something seems out of balance.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CampesinoTino (497) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 20, 2012
Bomber. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a half-inch of sudsy off-white head. Aroma is potently sweet and resiny with lots of ruby red grapefruit, tropical fruit, pine and caramel. The taste has loads of aggressive resiny hops bitterness at the start followed by a healthy serving of grapefruit, tangerine and orange rind. Also some bready malt flavors in the mix in addition to some caramel malt sweetness. The body is thick and syrupy with low carbonation. Finish delivers a mild booze burn with more piney bitterness. This one’s loaded with potent hops flavors and equally flavorful as their regular IPA.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 TAR (2236) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - APR 12, 2011
Unfiltered rufous. Creamy white head exhibits good retention. Humdrum nose of jasmine, pine, toasted malt, and peach. Mild diacetyl and floral hops. Deeply resinous upfront, coupled with honey-doused toasted malt and a salvaging hop punch boasting clean notes of juicy citrus. Vivid pine-charged bitterness rests snugly at the rear of the tongue while the noticeably oily hops numb and tingle the tip. Alcohol overexerts itself throughout. Delicate acidity uplifts and cuts the resinous character, though diacetyl somewhat abbreviates and dulls much of the bright hoppiness. Closes borderline balanced with tones of toasted caramel atop a firm pinewood- and oily-hop base. Decent, overall, but as with many IIPAs this greatly lacks hop flavor and boasts way too much caramel and resin which gives the floral softness no chance to flourish. Also, very grainy and alcoholic, with a rather unclean/yeasty nose. Uninspiring, ultimately.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 douglas88 (3678) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - APR 8, 2011
Bomber thanks to BVC. Pours a clear dark amber color with a large grey head. A nice aroma of grains, citrus, pine, earth. The flavor is very nice; rich caramel sweetness pushing this toward a super hoppy barley wine, bitterness, pine, the floral hops are massive. Almost perfumy. Very nice, aggressive. Easy to drink.
