4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 nautwerks (3) - , Washington, USA - FEB 4, 2009 does not count
On tap at Empire Ale House.
Poured black in color with a thin tan head.
LOTS of roasty, chocolatey aroma.
Tons of chocolate, roast, and dark malt profile. Nice balance with the bitterness but has a little, almost cloying sweetness.
Definite warming alcohol notes but not over the top. Alcohol content is well hidden in this beer.
Excellent Imp Stout!

Pours a pitch black with a good head & some lace. Roasty, slightly alcoholic head with notes of molasses. I love the taste! Dark crystal & alcohol, very high gravity. Oats? I think I missed them. Creamy body with ok carbonation. What a great impy stout! Great warm finish. Sampled at the GCBF.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 26, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2009 Poured black with a small light brown head. Toasty chocolate and coffee aroma. Very strong roasty flavor along with rich chocolate. Very smooth, rich, and full flavored. Has a touch of resinous hop bitterness on the finish. This is my favorite continuously available oatmeal stout, and it’s too bad I can’t buy it outside of trips to Bellingham.

Inky, silky, smooth, mellow flavour. It does not taste like the 1.090 O.G. that is indicated. A Sammy Smith type flavour but with a sort of smokines in the middle, and a hoppy, warming finish. oh man!!

GCBF cask conditioned sample. Thick creamy head on a black beer. Thick aroma, lots of coffee like a coffee liqueur. Creamy body. Oily texture.

My favourite at the brewpub for sure. Body is basically black with a nice foamy head that beckons my lips to taste. Flavour is malty, roasted with a coffee and chocolate blend. Defianetly finishes warm and smooth like a good stout should.

On cask at the Eastside Club Olympia. pours black with a big brown bubbled head. Intensely smooth and creamy flavor. Has a very silky palate. The alcohol in this beer is totally not noticeable for an Imperial. Most awesome!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TimE (2600) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAR 16, 2004
A rich espresso, oatmeal, cherries and coffee nose. The mouth has an intense hoppiness to it, but the finish is well rounded. Overall an interesting style that I would like to try more of.

I enjoyed this beer a great deal. Better than BBay’s limperial outmealer, much better. Good, thick mouthfeel. Great chocolate finish.
