A rich espresso, oatmeal, cherries and coffee nose. The mouth has an intense hoppiness to it, but the finish is well rounded. Overall an interesting style that I would like to try more of.

Agreed with raters below. In terms of flavour projection this doesn"t drink like a Impy stout. Smooth body, sticky sweet, but the roast is soft as is the vanilla and chocolate. Nice, but lacking spirit.

On tap at St Augustine’s on The Drive in Vancouver. It’s black, and of course the barkeep poured as much beer into this sleeve as it could possibly hold, so not much reading on head or aroma.

Taste: Very sweet, esp. In comparison with the foregoing Ninkasi Oat Stout. A bit too sweet in my estimation, and seemingly lacks the deeper flavour dimensions of coffee and chocolate to be had in such classics as Old Rasputin and Brooklyn Black Chocolate stouts. It’s okay.

Solid black with a small beige head. Aroma is blackcurrant, chocolate, hint of liquorice. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, sweet on the palate with a bittersweet finish. Taste is dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, coffee cake.

Draught at the brewpub
Black color, with beige creamy head. Mild but nice aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Some roasted malt flavor, very light sourness, not too dry, some oatmeal presence, but that’s pretty much all.
Not really Imperial flavor, maybe just the alcohol.

On tap. Pours black with little head. Aromas of black coffee and dark fruit. Flavors of bitter coffee and dry dark chocolate. Very dry and bitter with the edge softened slightly by the oatmeal.

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. This beer pours a dark brownish black color with a medium thin tan head that diminishes quickly to a film. Patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character of coffee and malt. Mild hops in the background. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

On tap at Alibi Room. Pours a solid black with a small caramel head. Roasted aromas of coffee/espresso, and dark chocolate. Flavour of whiskey, espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, nuts. Complex with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.

Draught @ The Alibi Room, Vancouver, BC

Pours pitch black with a nice smooth beige head. Aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is smooth with notes of oatmeal, roasted malts and coffee. Long lasting finish of malts and chocolate. Okay imperial stout, but nothing special.

good pour, very dark body with caramel head. Sweet caramel, chocolate and booze smell. Tastes like it smells (sweet and boozy) but with a coffee finish (bitter). In the mouth its a bit thin for my liking with a stout.
