3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy boboski. Plum colored body, no head as expected. Swirling the beer brings a small ring of bubbly foam. Aromas of dark fruits - plums and grapes, sherry and biscuit dough. Flavors of tropical dark fruits, plums, and that same sherry heat. Lively carbonation, medium bodied. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Finish is toffee sweet, nutty and medium length. Good BW.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy of boboski. Color is fairly typical for the style, a rich deep amber. Aroma is malt forward, with an omnipresent citrus peel, sweet dough and a touch of hops. Flavor is more agressive than the aroma would have you believe, with the hops jumping to the fore front. Warming alcohol works well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy boboski. Pours a cloudy maroon orange with pretty much no head. Bready caramel aroma, dark malts, and some dark fruits, but not much. The flavor is alot of caramel malts, really sharp bitterness, and bready yeast. Tastes pretty standard for a barleywine but very fresh tasting and sharp on the flavor. Pretty tasty. Sweet caramel finish turns into bitter malts. Pretty decent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a transparent bright copper with a spotty, thin off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramely malt has a touch of light fruity esters. Body has some drier alcoholic notes and semi-sweet caramel maltiness toward a warming finish. Needs more sweet malty balance to hide the alcohol better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
05’ vintage on tap at BPP. Thought this was one of the more impressive of the beers I tried at BPPs barley wine fest. A bit more malt complexity than most barleywines....comes off with more than just pure sweetness from the high alcohol. Alcohol has died down a bit, but still very much there.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught 03’ vintage @ Brouwer’s Café during Hard Liver 2006: Ruby caramel, moderate off-white head, foamy, fairly nice lacing. Malty, bready, and slight caramel on the nose. Sweet biscuity malt on the tongue, with moderate hop bitterness. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Slightly sticky. A little alcohol burn on the exit. Fairly good!
