Murky colour. Very bitter. Chewy, grassy, slightly resiny. A fun experiment - Perle don’t come to mind as a good APA hop, but these work nicely. A damn tasty drop.

Good hoppy style beer with a twist. Quite bitter, and quite lasting. Some spicy notes add to this unique Perle hop beer.

Murky, pale orange-amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is hop-dominant, spicy and floral hoppiness with a touch of resin. Finish is nicely bitter as well. A pretty tasty beer.

I’ve heard that Perle hops are a fairly new strain of hops, it seems as though they are best suited to bittering and aroma. These single hop beers provide an excellent opportunity to see exactly how each hop holds up on its own, and as the Cascade hops seem to be about grassy citrusy flavor, this seems to be sharper, less floral, and more crisp, but less flavorful. The palate here was interesting - although the Perle hops seem to provide a nice bitter kick, the palate isn’t entirely cut by the bitterness, but there is a chalkiness here that is appealing and altogether kind of baffling. The beer looked great, an opaque golden orange I haven’t seen in the other pales. Although this is ultimately limited by its intention of restricted ingredients, I think the Perle hop is one of the most versatile I’ve come across, perhaps with the exception of the Cascade.
