I was a little bit surprised to find this as a separate edition to the standard Hinesty Box Cider. Was I delighted? Not especially. As a cider is is aimed squarely at drinkers who like things sweet. It isn’t cloyingly so but it was still too much for me. Golden in colour with plenty of sparkle and clear. Smells of perfumy apple varieties to the extent that is even smelled slightly artificial. Flavours of the same but it could have been worse.

Visual: Aluminum can, odd size. Pours straw yellow with a smallish dissipating head, a very thin layer of micro retention, several slow steady large CO2 streams. Nose: filtered apple juice, hints of yeast (lvl-5)-pungency Attack: crisp, large CO2 fizzy, incoming dense sweet Mid-palate: (lvl-7)-sweetness, dense sugars, high acidity, medium tartness, (MAIN) mild apple cider vinegar, red apple juice Finish: mild alcohol bitternesss, cloying sugars, micro bubbly apple exhale. Summary: Almost guaranteed to give those who are prone to it like me, heartburn. Lots of acidity as well as added sugar in this, best with a meal or snack. Too sweet-cloying with just a basic apple/apple cider vinegar flavour, decent bubbly mouthfeel.

Nice apple aromas. Reminds me of an apple juice box. Flavours are fairly sweet but the finish is dry and snappy. Almost Chardonnay like. Tasty stuff.

440 ml can. Pours a clear straw color with pop like bubbles. Lots of carbonation. Aromas of golden apples and a bit of grass. Soft, sweet apple flavors - like warm carbonated apple juice. Much better local BC stuff to be had.

See, this is why ciders are so hard to rate. They all taste like apples. Other than Sea Cider which has done interesting stuff with their ciders, I just get the same thing out of ciders every time. Some are more artificial, some are more tart or sweeter, but really it all amounts to apples. So does this taste bad? No. It tastes like apples. The abv is well masked. It doesn’t look like much but it tastes perfectly fine.
