3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Again rb, you got the style wrong. This is no abbey/dubble, but rather a belgian brown, much too light for a dubble. Aged six months in oak. That being said, it is quite nice for a light bodied, fruity & sparkly ale with a touch of belgian oak-aged character. The sweet cherry aroma and flavor was so strong that I was looking for them in the ingredients. Beautiful carmel color and fine belgian lace. Sweet/tart.

Clear brown, minimal cappuccino head. Hay, cereals and light malts, yeast. Yeasty simple malts with syrup-like sweetness and weird bittersweet ending.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique 120813. Quite a good beer with swirling layers of skinny tan foam. There is some tartness there but not enough to make you screw your face up. Well balanced.

Clear dark brown, cola colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, light vinegar, cherry, light berries. Sweet flavour, caramel, sweet corn, dark sugar, rather sweet. Sweet finish, caramel, dark fruits, hint of wood. Expected some more wood and sour notes, it’s rather bland.

Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is zoet, drop, rook en caramel, echter ietwat waterig. Blijft redelijk lang hangen. Goed bier.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle (330 ml). Shared by JulienHuxley, thanks! Dark amber with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of caramel, light red fruits, hints of roasted malt and metallic notes. Taste is also of caramel, roasted notes, hints of red fruits and light sweetness. Medium body. Moderate/medium carbonation. Watery finish. Bleh. Not really sour, no complexity at all and not enjoyable. At least, it allowed the next beer a little more time in the fridge.
