PapaVillum (850) - Valby, DENMARK - JUN 9, 2016
33 cl, flaske, 5.0 % ABV, BB: 17/03/17, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BOTTLE 33 CL. Clear red-brown, decent beige head. The aroma has red dry berry sweetness and bitter herbs - kind of like a cough syrup. Some metallic notes and very faint winy acidity. The taste is similar, with an acidity resembling carbonated drinks more than Flanders Reds. Not bad, but far from the best.

Drinking from tap. In the aroma some fruit. The unclear brown beer has a small off white head. In the taste liquorice, cherries. Medium carbonated.

Bottle 33cl. Poured into a teku glass. Clear deep ruby brown, small stable frothy beige head, mostly diminishing, fair lacing; sweet fruity nose, cherries, raspberries, caramel, wood (much more complex than expected); taste light heavy sweet and light to medium sour, candy sugar, cherries, bit woody, light spicy notes; becomes more sour in the middle part leading to a fruity sweetsour finish, woody undertone; medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation; better than expected (being a Martin’s beer), perhaps bit too sweet but enough sourness for the balance.

Brown/red color with quickly falling beige foam. Sweet aroma with hints of caramel, malt, berries and wine-sourness. Taste is surprisingly pleasant with a good sweetness and a good amount of malt compared to other beers in the category. Slightly sour but overall more on the sweeter side with notes of berries and caramel. Reminds me a bit of a russian softdrink called квас (Kvass). Overall this was better than I had imagined and actually a beer I would buy again to enjoy with some friends. Thumbs up!
