Tasted from the bottle, on 22/02/2013. Pours muddy dark brown, with amazing head, with excellent retention. Aroma is full of tart berries, with a hint of candies, pleasantly spicy in the end. Taste is moderately tart upfront, with lovely fruity overtones, then a bid bready and grainy. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, low-med carb, with a good warming finish. Aftertaste is a nice mix of tartness and candy sweetness. After several sips get a feeling that it's too sweet though. Worth to try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Dexters. Unfiltered brown with a patchy off-white head. Kind of an odd aroma, some sour brown notes but mostly an odd neutral chalkiness..probably the overly "clean" lines. Very thin bodied, quite unimpressive for the style. Mellowed lactic sourness, thin brown malt tones. Watery, very subtle. Pretty much like you put Rodenbach through a flavor filter. Has got to be the most plain, pedestrian example of the style out there. Develops a pinch more depth as it warms.

330ml bottle. A dark brown beer with a ruby tinge and ample uneven creamy-white head that laces nicely. There is a distinct whiff of tart sourness on the nose with cherries, brown sugar and woody elements. Taste is similar with the malt sweetness coming out first and a soft sourness at the end. Lightish mouthfeel and medium-light body. Reminded me of a sweetish Flemish red ale rather than your typical Abbey Dubbel.

And interesting mix of sweet and a small hint of tartness. Little to no lacing or head. The bottle was 15 months old and could have lost some flavor. Good, but no Rodenbach Grand Cru.

Stylish bottle with its reliŽf print. A very deep, dark burgundy with beige foam and lots of visible carbonation. The scent is sweet, reminds me of strawberry or red cherries, with a bit of kriek-like sourness as well and very much in the background some hops. The taste is very nice, full-bodied, a bit fruity, sweet but not excessively so. Roasted barley complements it very well, Iím always amazed by the richness of this 5% beer, could very well compete with quite a few 7% Dubbels out there! The slight sourness also helps to mask the fact that itís a rather light beer, together with the sweetness and the underlying roasted character even if the 6 months on oak casks donít make themselves too much felt. The aftertaste is less outspoken sweet, mostly the roast remaining but subtly; not nearly as strong as the initial taste as also the fruits and sourness donít linger long. Excellent stuff, particularly considering its low alcohol percentage!
