3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Svesse (4389) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 8, 2006
(Cask at White Star, Liverpool, 26 July) Colour is dark amber with frothy head. Nose is fruity, nutty with citrus (grapefruit, lemon) and some dusty hops. Taste starts malty and nutty, then turns fruity with citrus (orange, grapefruit) and finishes in a long dusty bitterness. Complex is the word, and very tasty regarding the low abv. Well done.

Cask handpull at White Star, Liverpool. Golden, thin white head. Good citrus aroma, bit dusy. Bit odd flavour, hops don’t entirely work. Very harsh hop finish. Staleish malts.

For the lovers of hops in a pale ale, this one. Loads of bitterness and hop flavour swill around although the flavour is very integrated and may lend itself to a prolonged session. (Cask @ Liverpool Beer Festival)
