3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask gravity at Reading BF 08. Chestnut pale, with thin beige head. Decent choc and malt, some hop. Good in mouth, some depth, a little rubbery on the hop, but overall a decent strong bitter. Bit of Airfix glue on aroma. Decent, but has unattractive elements.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very mellow, slightly simple. A bit sweet, but not sugary. Doesn’t taste its strength, feels like a low 4.x% bitter. A bit forgettable, but not flawed.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A Mes rate: Gravicask at Reading Beer Festival.
Dark amber with no head. Slight chlorine in the aroma, otherwise earthy and dull. Tean and malt in the mouth with some slight hoppage on the finish along with some delicate sweetness. Nuts??? Where? Dull.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask, handpump at The Cask & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 29.12.10 Pours brown with a touch of filmy off-white head. This is a little shallow and empty at first in the mouth but after a while the flavours start to flood through, it’s definatly nutty, sweet and bitter but with some old fashioned qualities that are a little hard to describe. Nice beer but up against an even better one in the Salopian Requiem. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle, 7 Aug 2010. Thanks to SaintMatty) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of chestnut and dark fruit. Malty, nutty taste with chestnut, dark fruit and caramel. More than medium body, rather sweet, with a mild bitterness. The chestnut character gets a bit overwhelming after a while but it’s a tasty and nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2010 Cask Stillage (Bitter Virtue, Southampton) - Brown in colour. Spicy malt aroma with some nutty hints. Roasted malt taste with some strong nutty (chestnut) elements being noticeable. The finish is roasted with a nutty sweetness. Very tasty and an excellent idea.
Also, Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Much the same as before but with the roasted notes being slightly more pronounced and just a hint of vanilla sweetness. I did not try this beer last year (when it first came out) but the recipe has supposedly been modified and the quality has allegedly improved.
