COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bowmans Golden Lager is a smooth classical lager brewed in a traditional European style. This all malt lager has a floral and fruity hop character layered on top of a pleasant malt body.

Pale lager, pallid look, paltry head and manufactured meanness of flavour. Why bother?

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2007 Tasted 23/08/2006. 330ml stubbie, shared with Jono, at the Cellar-Vate August tasting. Bright, golden, with a short white head. The nose reeks of cheapness dressed up as sophistication: a little grassy and background sharp phenolic note that not many people would notice if cold (and out of the bottle). I suspect it’s a quick, warmish lager fermentation with little lagering. Clean, dry and totally inoffensive but insipidly uninspiring. Much like Monteith’s Golden. Someone called it a BBQ beer - I’d probably use it to clean the BBQ, rather than drink it at one. Retasted 11/02/2007. 330ml bottle at a friends place. Grassy notes on the nose. Mettalic notes in this finish. Dry and unappealing, just as last time. Not as sharp in the phenolics, though there is still a fairly salient vinyl note in there. No malt, no fruity hop.
