Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, dark amber body is topped by a small, off-white head. Strange aroma with berries, caramel and a fruity hop touch. The flavor is pretty much the same, although more on the caramel side. Butterscotch and coffee too. Full-bodied and quite carbonated. Dry. The end is dry and coffee flavored with some fruity notes. Not bad, just boring and ordinary. 110128

@ Cross Guns, Avoncliff. Amber-bronze. Hearty, toasty aroma with lots of whole grain bread. Toasty with lots of bread. The body is light, with some brown sugar sweetness. Nice brew.

Cask @ Cross Guns in Avoncliff. Dark russet and clear with scattered lace. Fruity esters with white plum and pear. Soft palate with low carbonation. Sweetish throughout with nice yeast character and a juicy body. Fruity to the max and finishes with good toasty malt. Could use more bitterness but is still a very good beer.

Hand pulled cask ale at The Whole Hog in Mamesbury, England. Dark amber color with a white head and good lacing. Nose is light malts with some floral hops. Medium mouthfeel and very smooth with low carbonation. Lots of flavor with some nice balance between the malts and hops. Finish bitter but less so than many others. Very nice to drink.

Bottle. Bronze with a medium body and small head. Some hops and flowers are present. Slightly delicate flavour and not for those who like full bodied bitters. Still above average and worth searching out.

Bottle picked up at Bellingers, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon, 01-05-10 consumed 02-05-10 This is a dark amber beer, the aroma is a little wooodland like with some earthy hops propping things up. Malty and hoppy in the mouth, hops are a little earthy, a touch rustic at times which I rather like but nonetheless clean tasting and another good looker. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov13 3.4
