Cask; dark ruby, thin head, fairly handsome; no obvious aroma; this one’s full of soft malty complexity - nutty, toasted; a light sweetness and a fairly long, gentle, bitter finish; feels weaker than 5%, this has a very soft all round feel which imparts a gentle charm.

A clear dark reddish brown ale with a thick frothy brown head, very resilient. In mouth, nice dark fruits with caramel, butterscotch, a bit lighter than expected. In mouth, a smooth roasted caramel with light herbal licorice, molasses, nice.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 hangunder (97) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 3, 2013
Roasty, light chocolate aroma. Dark brown, with a quickly dissipating head. Light bodied, roasty/chocolate/slight hop bitter upfront with a long chocolate aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Suprisingly refreshing for a beer this roasty.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dandeman (213) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 18, 2012
Aroma: Blackcurrant, molasses and toasted bread mainly. Long lasting and complex nose.
Appearance: Brown and clear. Average creamy head, moderately lasting, sticking good but no lacing.
Taste: A woody attack with roasted notes. Texture is watery. We can feel wood and roasted malt accents; almost smoke. Finish is with slight notes of lemon. Flavors are mostly malty and finish slightly hoppy. and dry. Not a great beer but pleasant to drink.
