2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 wheresthepath (1083) - - MAY 16, 2008
[on draught at The Inn at Freshford, Somerset] My brother Jim called it "pure evil in a glass", my Dad agreed. I thought so too at first, but it did grow on me a little over the course of the pint. Burnt malt dominates throughout. There’s some fruity tanginess in the background. It’s intensely and unpleasantly bitter but leaves a syrupy coating in your mouth.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze, Brigg. Deep ruby red, almost black, thin shortlived off white head and low condition. Low fruity berries and slight chocolate in the aroma, initially bitter in the mouth, dry and quite thin but with some chocolate sweetness briefly trying to assert itself, finish is again bitter and dry with some traces of berries.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 cards04 (298) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 6, 2012
Pours dark ruby/black. Aromas of roasted malts, lemon, some chocolate and anise. Very creamy on the palate. More roasty flavors, citrus, and a touch of sweetness from chocolate. Good.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Frenger (213) - Derby, Alabama, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2012
Bottle from somewhere I’m bristol. Not bad but not really a stout, more just a dark ale.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tkrjukoff (2673) - SWEDEN - MAR 4, 2012
Bottle 50 cl, Westholme Stores, shared with Mats. Pours thin black with a small tanned head. Aroma is sweet a bit roasted fruity berry livorice and malty. Flavor much similar to aroma, black currants and good bitternesd. Finishes bitter malty and fruity.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Boutip (3458) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 30, 2012
Bottle: Poured a dark black color ale with a medium light brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with some dry bitter notes. Taste is a mix between some medium dry roasted malt notes with light fruity ester. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting though lacking complexity or some subtlety are maybe just too subtle for me.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GuillaumeCL (41) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 13, 2012
Pours dark, nearly black, with some fading to brown around the edges. Small amount of head that dissipates quickly leaving a bit of lacing. Aroma is a bit weak, but has definite malt and yeast smells, some cereal and dough smells for sure. Quite active carbonation that really enhances the body of the beer. Malt is nicely balanced with the hops, not overly sweet by any means, just a nice citrus flavour lingering on your tongue. Tasty, but not my favourite.
