3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Stourhead NT shop; amber, loads of bubbles, moderate foamy head; aroma is overwhelmingly of sulphur; taste is citrus (grapefruit, bitter orange), some sulphur too which adds a strange, distinctive but not unpleasant character; good strong earthy / floral hop finish; a resolutely English IPA and all in all an enjoyable beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Golden Guinea, Bristol. Pours a clear gold with thin white head, good lacing. Aromas are caramel, floral hops, light citrus. Trade has a good bitterness, light sweet. Slightly oily texture, but otherwise a good enough British cask ipa.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle, BB 06/2013.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A beautiful sunny afternoon on Friday 7th September 2012 saw my father and I join in R.A.T.2012 (Rail Ale Trail part 2). Split between three bars along the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury railway line: they had over 50 different beers to try: this was one of them.
Half-pint, gravity fed in the fest tent behind Codsall Railway Station.
I’ve struggled with a couple of beers from this brewery but thought I’d give them another try: I fancied an IPA and wasn’t disappointed. Looked good; it had a bright amber body with a fair sized head of frothy white bubbles.
The smell was very floral and grassy, glad to say I picked up no citrusy notes in the aromas or taste.
The taste was hop bitter, but with a balanced malt feel to take away the bite.
Medium body depth: with enough flavours to hide the 5.3% ABV nicely. Pleasant: without setting the world alight.

Bottle from West Country Ales
Amber....frothy white head...clear...reasonable lacing
Aroma - light aroma of grassy light citrus hops..hint of zest...sweet pale malts...bit of cereal.
Taste - Pale biscuity malt...light grassy spicy hops...hint of citrus... light cereal ...touch of toffee...mellow but pleasant flavour
Palate - soft carb..thin to medium body...light tang on palate. Finish - moderate bitter..biscuit...light grassy hop...rapid..cleans well
Overall - Mellow beer... quite nice but the aroma and flavour is a bit dull and understated...I reckon it would be better cask

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
[Bottle, gift from Mum & Dad - cheers!] Deep golden with a slight white head. Rich smooth mouthfeel is very nice going down. Flavour is rathe sweet and syrupy, & the fresh leafy hops need beefing up a bit to balance it. Pleasant enough though.
