Formerly known as Vanilla Porter. Renamed in 2009.
Dark brown in colour, with a subtle vanilla aroma. The vanilla sweetness contrasts nicely with the slight bitterness from the roasted barley and chocolate malts

Has a strong vanilla smell and a bit of citrus that is odd for a porter. Thereís a little malty must as well. Pours a light black or dark brown, shines red in light. Palate is very light - this beer is mostly in the smell. Taste has some bitterness but itís pretty light overall. Nice head with some decent lacing.

Dark brown but to the light the middle is red. 2 finger head. Smell is amazing what you get from a porter all that:Coffee a little, chocolate, kind of a sour cherry like smell, roastedness, vanilla all good porter smells r there. Taste mabye it need to be a bit or more warmer then it was but itís that greAT porter taste of chocolate, little bits of some roasted coffee like taste, all stuff like that with a little vanilla at times but never seemís to be hardcore and heavily noted. These flavs r in the aftertaste a while and nicely. Maye not be the best porter I ever had but porterís kick ass and this is good. Too bad it wasní;t jet black. cheerís!

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark brown/black with little head that rings quickly. Smell is really nice, some sweet roasty and chocolate flavours, maybe a bit of vanilla, and a slight woodiness. Palate is medium bodied with not a lot of carbonation at all. Taste is very interesting with an initial soft bitterness thatís stronger than expected but gives way to some toasty sweetness, and a very balanced roasted/bitter aftertaste. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Brownish amber, very quick tan head. Aroma is chocolate milk maltiness with the vanilla giving it an almost dr pepper feel. Slight woody earthiness. Light body, a little slick. Mostly sweet, although not cloying. A clean bitter finish. Not too complex, but really nice balance. Good stuff!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Smells delicious, like high quality chocolate emanating from Bournville. Jet black, mit cream head. Super smooth dans le gob und tongue. Beautiful vanilla flecked choc, which is rich, then vaguely vinuous on the backthroat. Enjoyed this, and am pleasantly surprised to see that it scores so well. Thanks to The_Bish for forcing me to purchase this, rather than some lager or other.

What a lovely surprise, vanilla porter. Really interesting flavour - not sure itís too complex, but the vanilla comes through beautifully.

2012-07-27. Very dark brown body, modest tan head. 3+ Dry malty flavour, toasty notes, dry cocoa, and a dry minerally finish. 6+ Aroma has a strong dry cocoa and Ovaltine like character. 7+ Smooth average plus to medium palate. Solid, a bit to dry I find the roasty cocoa like character dominated. I got very little vanilla character out of it. Perhaps I waited too long on the bottle? A beer named after a project of IK Brunel, enjoyed shortly after a tribute to Brunel during the Opening Ceremonies for the London 2012 Olympics. A happy coincidence. Bottle cellared a few months from the LCBO, Toronto.

500mL bottle from LCBO poured into tulip pint glass. Pours a very dark brown stout color with fluffy dark tan head with. Aroma consists of roasted malts, mild hops, sweet caramel, bakers chocolate and a definitive vanilla scent, very reminiscent of a strong espresso or cappuccino. The taste is excellent with a light bitter taste thanks to the roasted malts and hops accented by a chocolate and vanilla finish. This porter is light bodied although has a smooth texture which gives it some significance. Carbonation is mild and lacing retention is excellent. Overall this is a very enjoyable porter and is worthy of itís many awards since itís inception.
