Formerly known as Vanilla Porter. Renamed in 2009.
Dark brown in colour, with a subtle vanilla aroma. The vanilla sweetness contrasts nicely with the slight bitterness from the roasted barley and chocolate malts

Dark body like cola with a medium tan head. Heavy malt and sweet vanilla aroma. Flavor is tart, slightly bitter with hickory smoke and a light vanilla finish kind of like cream soda. Almost flat mouthfeel.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small light beige head, which neither lasts all that well nor leaves very much lacing. Mild black coffee bitterness and vanilla notes mix with roasted malt nuttiness to create the aroma. Fairly mild citrus hops up front give way to black coffee and roasty malt in the mid-palate. Latte and very mild vanilla notes make up the finish. This is not a bad beer, but it’s all a little too restrained. It really needs something to give it a little bit more of a kick.

A lighter style of porter. The aroma certainly has the vanilla component but it is that kind of ’fake’ vanilla which I don’t enjoy much. The palate was lighter than expected and again the vanilla character was not enjoyable.

Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath. Dark black colour, thin off white head. Soft mouthfeel, retrained roasty bitterness, come chocolate, quite a whack of vanilla. Smooth drinking stuff, maybe a bit too much vanilla to have more than one though.

Appearance: Deep brown color with a small tan head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Vanilla, some roasted malt and mild dark malt.
Palate: Medium body. Mild round sweetness, and a moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Strong vanilla, some roasted malt and mild dark malt.
Overall impression: Weird at start, then I just fell in love with it. Just like a symphony.
Personal stats: On tap at White Hart (Nicholson’s) in London, England.

This doesn’t look like much but somehow it grows on the palate over time. From a rather mediocre introduction comes a nice sessionable porter with flavor instead of the bland going-through-the-motions aspect of some I have tried to date.

Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black base and wispy mocha head tease the eye. This could be a winner or it could be a half baked attempt at a release. The nose does not help influence things either. With the smell of flat Vanilla Coke it is actually tempting to write this one off before you take a sip.

Flavor / Palate - Vanilla Coke with a dash of coffee changes the mind. Light on the palate yet not generic the mouthfeel works with this beer. The bitter finish retains the aspects of a nice porter without the palate fatigue that comes from making it bigger and higher gravity. It might not be the greatest but it is definitely worth the cost of a half pint.

A bit to fizzy in bottle. Nice vanilla aroma. Balanced in taste but to much carbonation. Mouthfeel bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
