Formerly known as Vanilla Porter. Renamed in 2009.
Dark brown in colour, with a subtle vanilla aroma. The vanilla sweetness contrasts nicely with the slight bitterness from the roasted barley and chocolate malts

Gravity cask at GBBF 2014, 12/08/14. Pours a dark reddy brown with an off white head> Choc, grass, light leather aroma - a hint of spice too. Light body, light carbonation. Grass, milk choc, a hint of lemon, a light herby thing too. A bit thin. OK.

Cask at GBBF 2014. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, cocoa, dirt, earth, roast, coffee and some meatiness. The taste is softy, roast, mild acidity, coffee, toast, cocoa and wood with a dry finish. Light-medium body and low carbonation. Ok...

Hand-pulled pint in The Cock Hotel Wellington, Shropshire on 21st June 2014. Clear mahogany body with a full beige head. Malty aroma and taste, vanilla and sweet throughout: I liked it. Don’t see enough Porters about, so if you get the chance to try this please do. Smooth, full bodied and very drinkable.

Cellar temperature and into a snifter. Pours a midnight brown with good clarity when held to the lights. Head is not much of a game player receding back instantly to a film of tannish suds. Nose is sultry and alluring. Like a late night dessert; dark and seductive. Vannilin dominates but there is hints of rich, milk chocolate, ganache and fondant, marzipan, brandy and caramelised dates, a little liqueur too making it seem to punch much higher than its weight. Vanilla also dominates the palate but yet there is great balance coming from smoky, charred malts, light roast, rich, dark chocolate and hints of hazelnut, liquorice and cola soda. Body is good, firm and rounded with very soft carbonation giving it a velvety feel. Plenty of chalky, smoky length with a sharp, peppery hop bitterness that cleanly breaks it all up. This is a pleasure to drink. Flavoursome, hearty and aromatic. Great stuff!! (50cL, no date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottle. Very dark brown with an off white head. Aromas are weetabix, chocolate and vanilla with some smokiness. Earthy coffee with raisins. Flavours are sweet chocolate meal replacement milkshake with earthy notes and bready yeast. A bit of hazelnut coffee syrup. Dry on the finish. A bit bloating, decent, though.
