4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle purchased at the Dundurn LBCO in Hamilton Ontario. Pours a dark cola like colour, small white head and little spots of lacing here and there. Aroma is malty and almost like chocolate milk. Taste is malty and the consistency of like a hot chocolate powder. A little bitter. Nice mouth feel.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark with a really fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Nice big hit of coffee and vanilla with maybe some chocolate. A bit of a watery finish, and also maybe something metallic? Still, good stuff!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep brown pour with a tight light brown head. The aroma is really rich and chocolatey with a lot of rich vanilla as well. There is a touch of light earthiness along with a little bit of light floral character through the middle of the nose. Lightly sweet with a little bit of roast and some cocoa. Softly sweet with a touch of light roast bitterness. It’s pretty nice - particularly considering the ABV.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line :
Blatant vanilla leads this thin Porter’s roasted malts into light bitterness, while adding spicy fruitiness throughout .
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam covers the darkest brown.
-The aroma predicts much more sweetness than is contained in the body.
-Nutty caramel appears under the vanilla.
-Vanilla supplants malt flavors and make them appear shallow.
-Wooden hops join roasted malts in the balancing bitter finish.
-This is quite dry and drinkable, yet it fails to keep me interested for the duration of the pint.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (500ml).. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, milk chocolate, light coffee and some cream -- lovely. Flavour of vanilla and roasted malt first followed by chocolate, light coffee, light hops, cream and a toasty finish. Average to medium bodied. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Great stuff, I loved it!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours deeep black in colour, moderate tan head, which dissipates quickly. Aroma and taste are initially slightly bitter roasted malt, hints of burnt coffee, but the vanilla comes out to lay a sweet blanket over this beer, as it warms. Really enjoyable!
